Grad Intern - Variation Management Organization (Global Supply Chain)

This could be your everyday

Let's do this. Let's change the world. Effective approval and management of post-launch changes to Amgen's products "variations" is critical. Drivers of product change are quite varied and include but are not limited to: response to patient safety issues, complaints, regulatory commitments, addressing supply requirements, manufacturing network strategy, commercial or regional strategy, labeling changes, and operational excellence projects.

The objective of this project is to develop a standardized framework for business case development of product variations at Amgen that are driven by complaints. This framework will support: 1) robust decision making, 2) global prioritization of the variation portfolio to ensure Amgen's focus is on highest value projects, and 3) reduction in business case development effort and cycle time.

Product complaints are complex and are increasing in volume due to new regulations, product portfolio growth and international expansion. Managing complaints driven variations requires cross-functional collaboration from multiple stakeholders at a global level. The current business case process for complaints driven variations evaluates change value on a case by case basis and is potentially prone to inconsistency and longer cycle times.

This project will evaluate opportunities and will standardize complaint types based on their characteristics, sources of complaints, value drivers, and business case governance approval framework in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders across the organization. This project will provide an opportunity to develop an understanding of the end-to-end Amgen's commercialization process and Operations business.

Specific deliverables include:
  • Standardized definitions and associated value drivers by complaint type
  • Standardized playbook - framework for development and approval of complaints driven variations
  • Cross-functional alignment on the established framework
