Amgen's 10 - 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation.

Limited relocation housing and/or miscellaneous allowance may be available for eligible candidates.

The intern will investigate mast cell function by developing a robust in-house assay to measure effector cytokines released by mast cells during anaphylaxsis. Experiments will include characterizing the release of effector proteases, such as chymase and tryptase, as well as identifying specific types of pharmacological compounds that may trigger mast cell activation and anaphylaxis. These studies will be carried out simultaneously in multiple species to understand translatable aspects of mast cell function and sensitivity. The intern will gain technical experience with a variety of techniques such as in vitro cellular differentiation, primary immune cell-derived functional assays and various assays to quantify soluble mediators (ELISA, HTRF assays). Data generated from this internship will inform our understanding of mast cell function as well as provide a tool in which to evaluate mast cell related liabilities.
