Amgen's 10 - 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation.

Limited relocation housing and/or miscellaneous allowance may be available for eligible candidates.

The primary focus of this internship will be to advance analytical reporting and services across Global Development Operations (GDO) and foster business process expertise to provide insightful, data correlations and data intelligence, which will drive forward decision-making and monitor expected performance.

Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborate with partners throughout the organization to find opportunities for using data to drive business solutions.


  • Analyze & mine large clinical data for trends & patterns


  • Build predictive models & machine-learning algorithms to predict & prevent issues and optimize partner experiences


  • Propose automated solutions & strategies to complex business problems


  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.


  • Provide direct and routine timeline management while providing regular updates back to the requester(s)


  • Collaborate with interfacing technical teams including Data Management Systems and Information Systems to identify report(s) dependencies, engineer design solutions, and orchestrate deliverables towards a common goal


Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and currently enrolled in a Master's program for a Masters internship OR a PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university

Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

Degree concentration(s) in Data Science, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Applied Analytics or related field

Experience with statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets

Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawback

Familiar with advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.

Knowledge of visualizing/communicating data using Spotfire, Tableau, Business Objects, D3 etc.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
