Amgen's 10 - 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation.

Limited relocation housing and/or miscellaneous allowance may be available for eligible candidates.

The clinical pharmacology, modeling and simulation department at Amgen is a multidisciplinary group working across multiple stages of drug development. The intern will evaluate efficacy of PD-1 and/or other targeted therapies as a monotherapy/combination treatment in patients with solid or hematological tumors based on published clinical trial results or clinical trial databases using a model-based meta-analysis approach to inform the clinical effect size and efficacy/safety profiles of novel combination therapies, provide a quantitative comparison of publicly available clinical trial results with internal proprietary data and understand the competitive landscape for selected oncology indications

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and currently enrolled in a PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university

Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

Currently pursuing PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field

In at least the second year of current program by summer 2020

Proficiency in modeling software (e. g. R, NONMEM, SAS, MATLAB)

Interest in analyzing PK/PD and/or clinical trial data using advanced pharmacometric or statistical modeling methodologies

Intellectual curiosity with the ability to rapidly learn new concepts, algorithms, and technologies

Strong organizational, project management, problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills

Experience with manipulation, interpretation, and innovative analysis (e.g. novel algorithm development) of large datasets.
