The Digital Integration and Predictive Technologies (DIPT) group within Process Development is seeking a6-monthgraduate co-op student to apply first principles of physics and engineering to create mechanistic models of injection devices. Typical applications includeCAD design workandfinite element-based structural models of device components.

The co-op will interact daily with injection device design teams, specialists in computational modeling and simulation, and developers of next-generation injection technologies toprovide design insights fromsimulation results. ANSYS,Comsol, and Abaqus are common tools for solving these problems.

Additional opportunities include application of advanced analytical techniques to existing modelsanddeployment of mature model applications in web-based software platforms.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and currently enrolled in a MBA program for a MBA internship OR a Master's program for a Masters internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university

Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree concentrations in Mechanical, Biomedical, or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related fields.
  • Experience with commercial finite-element or finite-volume modeling software, for example ANSYS,Comsol, or Abaqus
  • Software development experience, which may include engineering-focused languages such asMatlab and Python
