Global Marketing Director, Regulatory & Compliance

Orrick currently has an opening for a Global Marketing Director, Regulatory & Compliance in our San Francisco office.

Your Responsibilities: As a Global Marketing Director, Regulatory & Compliance, you will be responsible for driving the firm's ability to market our Litigation and Regulatory practices by developing, executing and supporting go to market and client strategies.

You will be a senior professional on our Marketing and Sales team and will work collaboratively with the firms Practice Group Leaders and Lawyers, Litigation Sector Leader, Relationship Partners and the Marketing, Sales and Communications teams. The Director is responsible for applying the best practices in marketing and business development across all core sectors of the firm to build and develop client relationships, advance and amplify our brand and differentiate Orrick to help grow revenue.

The Director will lead a team of 5 marketing professionals who are focused on, or support, practice group marketing within the business unit. The Director will be expected to travel between Orrick offices to support all the practices for both internal and external meetings.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement marketing and client relationship strategies to advance Orricks brand globally, including the support of the litigation sector leader in the development and execution of the firms sector focused business plan.

  • Collaborate with relationship partners and the marketing & sales teams to manage priority client relationships, including drafting client plans, ensuring effective client team communications, coordinating to deliver value added services, evaluating client related activities and supporting client feedback. Be personally responsible for managing identified priority client relationships.

  • Lead marketing and sales activities, including pitches, RFP's, events, campaigns, and strategic initiatives. This includes leading on high profile and key client multi-practice, multi-jurisdictional pitches and RFP's (with the support of the central pitch & proposal team). Collaborate with practice group leaders, business unit leaders and sector leaders, and manage and develop the marketing team, in support of these efforts.

  • Coordinate with the communications team to build a strong digital and social media presence and ensure the integration of litigation & regulatory focused messaging in core sector communication.

  • Oversee marketing, communications and sales spend directed at litigation & regulatory growth and lead the budgeting process for marketing activities and events, evaluate effectiveness and make recommendations.

  • Understand and educate the firm and the market about Orricks global sector strengths, key differentiators, key players and market leading practices

  • Coach and partner with lead lawyers advising on the creation of actionable individual business plans for selected partners, in collaboration with practice and sector leadership.

  • Collaborate with partners to help lead Cross Practice Initiatives (CPI's) to address opportunities for the litigation and regulatory focused lawyer
  • Proactively stay informed and share hot topics, client successes, business drivers and trends in key sectors.

  • Coordinate with marketing team members globally who support each of the Orrick practices that serve key sectors. Coach, develop and mentor members of global marketing team.

Job Requirements:
  • 15+ years of marketing experience in legal or professional services marketing.
  • A passion and deep understanding of technology clients needs at all stages ofdevelopment.
  • JD /MBA a plus.

  • Strong client service approach and team orientation.
  • Proven team management, mentoring and supervisory skills.
