This position serves as a financial reporting analyst and technical liaison for Business Services technology needs and assists the institution with ensuring data integrity, testing of business impact resulting from system changes and maintenance, report writing, documenting and analyzing workflows for process improvement opportunities, overall data security and best practices.


Financial Reporting Analyst

  • Extract financial data for internal and external reporting, trend analysis, surveys, bench-marking, modeling and forecasting
  • Develop standard and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) per senior management and key stakeholder needs
  • Develop automated reporting and forecasting tools for more efficient use of data
  • Assist Business Services staff with report-writing and integration of data across varying solutions and platforms
  • Train and assist stakeholders in running standard management reports

Financial Systems Technical Liaison

  • Provides a strategic approach to respond to process and system needs of all Business Office services. Using technology tools, recommends and implements solutions or alternate methods to meet accounting and financial reporting requirements
  • Develops and maintains documentation of all Business Services systems and processes including security level assignments and training system users
  • Recommends process improvements to stakeholders and configures applicable modules of Student Information Systems (SIS) and financial software per business requirements such as automated work flows, training compliance reporting and internal communications.
  • Assist in the cross-training of all systems and duties
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to strategize, develop, deploy and manage programs, policies, procedures by providing detailed consultation and analysis
  • Oversee and provide work direction of related systems tasks performed by Accounting Associates
  • Provide orientation and support to managers on standard, procedural use

Accounting Systems Support and Maintenance

  • Maintain a high level of system knowledge and process expertise in understanding of core Business Services systems and architecture
  • Maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data, performing regular system data, records, and transaction audits; identify root causes, and correct records as needed
  • Maintain awareness of current software and industry trends with a focus on product and service development, delivery and support, and applying key technologies. Continuously increase both accounting knowledge and systems application/tools proficiency

Project Management

  • Assist with and manage key system events through configurations, test, implementation, communications and user training (examples: audits, budgeting, external survey reporting and compliance reporting)
  • Participate in routine information systems vendor meetings and prioritize projects according to business needs
  • Initiate and manage any support tickets, documenting issues and results
  • Proactively prepare for and partner with Information Technology to manage internal/external data transformation services, solution enhancements, upgrades and or software updates related to services and systems
  • Collaborate with functional and technical staff to coordinate upgrades and fixes and communicate impact and process changes to appropriate user audiences


Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience in IT/Finance/Accounting strongly preferred.


  • 3+ years of related, increasingly complex, experience in financial analysis and report- writing (with Jenzabar, Transact, Financial Edge NXT), preferably in a higher education setting .
  • Competence with advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, data tables, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in GL/ERP systems management (configuration, integrations, security) and general industry regulations.
  • Demonstrated technical interest and proven ability to interpret and organize data and information.
  • Proven ability to facilitate communication and collaboration between business and technical teams.
  • Proven ability to problem solve and proactively seek resolutions with a high level of initiative, delivering timely and quality work while demonstrating effective work prioritization.
