Position Description:


Support the general ledger, loan accounting, pricing, and loan origination systems across multiple environments (production, test, development and disaster recovery). Work with business owners to clearly define business needs and to create a better understanding of the associated business value. Analyze business/user requirements and identify potential risks or interdependencies that need to be accounted for in the implementation, enhancement or development of financial systems. Facilitate and coordinate project prioritization to ensure efforts meet the organization’s strategic goals and objectives. Assist in coordinating, evaluating and analyzing operational and functional process efficiencies for financial teams and financial systems. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement with system functionality and system processes. 




Essential functions of the position may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Partner with business owners and product managers to determine, define, analyze, document and communicate the objectives, business requirements and priorities for financial systems and solutions. This includes the identification of any risks and/or interdependencies.
  2. Facilitate communications within the team and with other teams to develop realistic timelines through efficient organization, planning, and monitoring of tasks and deliverables to ensure deadlines are achieved.
  3. Work with technology teammates to design, implement, enhance, automate, and maintain financial systems and processes.
  4. Perform root cause analysis on production support incidents and/or problems associated with financial systems.
  5. Create clear, effective and timely communications to share project results/outcomes with teammates, business owners and product managers.
  6. Manage vendor communications for projects and support cases.
  7. Create, documents, and execute comprehensive test plans to ensure the solution meets functional and non-functional requirements.
  8. Generate appropriate documentation for projects, recommendations, and implementation procedures.
  9. Develop and maintain current knowledge of the Associations’ practices, the financial industry, and assigned financial areas.  Improve understanding of financial system tools, practices, and methodologies.
  10. Incorporate continuous process improvement into all project, support and testing efforts.
  11. May coach and mentor less experienced financial systems analysts.
  12. May serve as project leader as well as financial systems analysts, dependent upon size and scope of project and availability of resources.

    Additional functions of the position may include:

    1. Performs other related duties as assigned.


      Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or equivalent. Five or more years’ experience researching, analyzing, supporting, and developing solutions for complex business systems/applications (relevant company knowledge/experience may off-set some of the technical requirement). Significant analytical experience related to business/systems analysis and process improvement in complex situations. Familiar with relational database concepts and experience generating database queries, data files, and reports. Expertise in utilizing testing methodologies as part of product development/configuration and quality assurance. Preferred experience includes two or more years working with Finance or Accounting processes.

      Duties require: 

      • Ability to relate user stories to technology implementation.
      • Thorough working knowledge of the Associations’ including business lines, business systems and customer base, or the ability to develop this working knowledge. Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
      • Strong working knowledge of accounting, finance and computer applications.
      • Demonstrated analytical and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to utilize data to recommend solutions and drive strategic business decisions.
      • Strong project management skills.
      • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in data querying tools, such as SQL, MS Access, and Excel.   Familiarity with agile project methodology.
      • Ability to perform data mapping between multiple databases and data extracts.
      • Ability to utilize SQL in testing; experience in developing test data.
      • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
      • Ability to coordinate and work effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
      • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills

      • Demonstrated competence in project management.
      • Ability to coordinate and work effectively with teammates, end-users and leadership.

        Associations’ and other Farm Credit entity employees, service providers, internal/external auditors, consultants and vendors.


        • Ability to speak and make presentations to individuals or groups on technical subjects related to this role.

        • Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
        • Ability to reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate and critique such information as written materials, numerical data, responses to customer needs and/or other work related activities.
        • Ability to complete work in an acceptable timeframe and manage a variety of detailed tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and with accuracy to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives and satisfy internal and external customer needs related to the job.
        • Ability to understand and explain various subject matter and consult on concepts, programs, terminology and methods.
        • Understands and uses computer technology related to carrying out essential responsibilities of the job. This includes reading the screen and keying/typing information.
        • Ability to perform repetitive motions on computer for extended periods of time.
        • Ability to operate telephone and respond to calls and in-person inquiries
        • Ability to move about the office with occasional reaching and bending.
        • Ability to travel via auto or commercial transportation (up to 10%) to carry out essential responsibilities of the job.
