General Overview

The position is in the Corporate Financial Planning (CFP) department of Rotary International in Evanston. This position is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and overseeing the timely and accurate completion of accounting entries, analysis, financial and regulatory reporting requirements as needed for the respective assigned regional international entities/countries/offices of RI & TRF (Associate foundations (AF), international Offices (IO), Fiscal Agents (FA). The position requires a professional with a broad range of experiences and capabilities; having preferred knowledge and experience in international accounting, tax, financial/governmental reporting and transaction processing for assigned countries/entities worldwide.


Key area of responsibilities includes:

  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all monthly tasks relevant to AF, IO & FA; and compliance with all reporting requirement as per agreements between RI/TRF/IOs/local entities;

  • Supporting respective entities Board of Directors and Committees

  • Help with preparing annual Financial Statements, regulatory reporting/filings, budgets and audit preparations

  • The incumbent will maintain day to day support and communication with assigned AFs, FA and IOs and work with various Financial Services teams to help coordinate budget variance explanation, help maintaining assigned countries/entities general ledger, help with preparing financial statements, annual budgets, and reports, assist with audits, and help complete required financial and statutory filings. Specific duties range from routine, e.g., monthly bank reconciliations, to the non-routine, e.g., research and fulfillment of evolving AFs, and IOs local laws and regulatory reporting requirements.



  • Bachelors degree in finance/accounting required

  • 4-5 years of progressive international accounting/operation experience preferred

  • CPA, MBA or working towards preferred

  • Proven knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, IFRS financial statement preparation and budgetary experience necessary

  • Pays excellent attention to detail, is reliable, well organized, and goal oriented

  • Possess the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to consistently deliver a quality work product and meet deadlines

  • Problem solver and self-motivated; takes initiative to suggest process improvements

  • Exhibits professionalism and effective communication skills (both written and oral)

  • Possesses fine inter-personal skills, multi-cultural awareness, and a team player attitude

  • Has experience working in international operating environment

  • Able to adapt and work effectively and efficiently in a structured, but fast-paced and/or changing environment

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio);

  • Excellent experienced and knowledge of PeopleSoft financial system (or other enterprise wide database applications)

  • Multilingual is a plus

  • Displays proven facilitation skills and proven ability to coach and coordinate projects and staff

  • Orientation toward collaborative-based projects and work styles essential


Specific Duties on Assigned Regional International Entities/Countries/Offices (i.e. Associate Foundations, International Offices, Fiscal Agents etc.):

  • Prepare and provide support in preparation of monthly, quarterly/annual financial statements preparations, audit for assigned countries/entities in accordance with local reporting requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with all reporting requirement as per agreements between RI/TRF/IOs/local entities respectively and report back to the respective BOD/Committees

  • Coordinate with other areas within secretariat including Financial Services areas for any inquiries made by local staffs from AFs, /IOs, FAs, and local auditors.

  • Provide timely and appropriate support for day-to-day operations of AFs, /IOs, FAs Staffs.

  • Responsible for handling volunteer travel and expense reimbursement related to travel to attend BOD meetings for AFs, Ios, FAs training seminars, other events etc.

  • Document and create policy and procedures related to AFs, /IOs, FAs related activities including flow charts as needed and update them at least annually yearly or as needed. 

  • Responsible for analyzing the impact of new laws, accounting pronouncements, on the financial, tax and regulatory reporting of the respective countries/international reporting entities.

  • Support development of financial tools, methods and practices and procedures to advise manager of improvement opportunities and internal controls for respective international countries/entities financial & regulatory reportings. 

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly management report on various activities of respective to international countries/entities.

  • Responsible for maintaining respective workgroup/ team sites content (updating calendars for meeting dates, keeping member information current, posting meeting materials and other communications), granting access to new members, and responding to questions from committee members regarding access and using team sites, providing training on request.

  • Help preparation of various items and reports for senior leaders/BOD on respective to international countries/entities.

  • Provide assistance to respective international countries/entities staffs with respect to audits, tax, and regulatory filings.

  • Assist IOs with the appointment and reappointment of Fiscal Agents including logistics and operational set-up.

  • Provide variance explanations respective to international countries/entities and help with the preparations with the entity level budget

  • Work with IOs team to ensure proper recording and reconciliations of entity/country/office level transaction into the consolidations of RI/TRFs book and records respective to international countries/entities

  • Assist CFP with the interim/annual audit, tax preparations of RI/TRF as it relates to international countries/entities, as needed and help with close general ledger accounting periods; review and ensure the timely completion of all account analyses, as it relates to international countries/entities.

  • Ensure all regulatory filings are up to date including web/team-site posting

  • Responsible for and coordinate with Treasury team and AF/IO/FA staffs as needed for the cash transfers and ensure proper recording at the entity level as well as into the RI/TRFs books and records (ex. RDG, RFUK, PIIF periodic cash transfers) and send acknowledgement as per the entity level agreements.

  • Maintain the permanent files for respective international countries/entities with detailed organizational structure, reporting requirements, tax issues including receipting and reporting and all other special considerations. 

  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.


Prior Experience

4-6 years progressive international accounting, financial & tax reporting experience preferred.

1-2 years in project management skills a plus.


Budget Responsibility

Work with respective assigned AFs, /IOs, FAs staffs to gather information/data and prepare the budget for department manager review and approval.
