Job Description:

Orrick’s Real Estate team is seeking an associate with two to three years of experience to join the San Francisco office.  The candidate will gain meaningful experience in the practice of real estate law and real estate finance, with a primary focus on high-end, capital markets transactions.  The group represents the leading international investment funds, fund sponsors, real estate advisors, developers, public and private pension funds, REITs, investment banks, and institutional lenders in all phases of real estate investment, finance, development and operations with an emphasis on joint ventures, acquisitions and dispositions of large real estate portfolios, and complex finance and distressed debt transactions.  The ideal candidate should possess excellent writing and communication skills, have strong academic credentials, and major law firm experience.  Prior experience in real estate work (whether legal or not), general corporate law, or finance law is a plus.  A member of the State Bar of California is preferable, but we will consider candidates licensed elsewhere who are willing to take the California Bar Exam.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate has major law firm experience, a commitment to excellent client service, and significant experience in public securities offerings and public company representation.  We are looking for a candidate that can serve as the lead associate on securities offerings as both issuer and underwriter counsel, or a candidate that can step into a leadership role. Strong interpersonal skills and a motivated, entrepreneurial outlook are essential.  Candidates must also possess excellent academic credentials along with superior communication and organizational skills, and be a member of the State Bar of California.

Consistent with the SF Fair Chance Ordinance, an arrest and conviction record will not automatically disqualify a qualified applicant from consideration for employment. For attorney positions, a 'qualified applicant' is an individual who is a member of the State Bar of California, admitted in good standing, and is eligible to practice[1]; or whose admission to the State Bar of California and eligibility to practice remains subject only to successful completion of the California Bar Examination.
