Pacific Biosciences is seeking an individual with proven marketing experience to spearhead outreach and awareness initiatives primarily in North America. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively with key corporate stakeholders for the development and execution of regional marketing programs to drive engagement with target end-user markets within the DNA sequencing space. The role will require a healthy balance of marketing with understanding and appreciation of the sales process in order to target priority market segments, engage with customers, customize messages, and execute go-to-market strategies. The result will be customized marketing programs (executed heavily with events) to drive increased adoption of PacBios SMRT Sequencing technology in the region. The position requires close collaboration with the Americas Field Teams as well as the Global/Corporate Marcom and Strategic Marketing teams based in Menlo Park, California.



  • Deliver on the regional marketing plan for the AMER markets. This will include contributing to and providing feedback on the overall marketing programs, creating market opportunity assessments, understanding customer needs, execution of marketing programs, ongoing measurement and optimization of marketing executions, and building strong relationships with key internal stake holders

  • Perform routine reporting and analysis of regional performance across all activities

  • Manage budget and track of expenditure, providing regular updates to ensure marketing programs are at or below budget and redirecting funds when necessary

  • Plan and coordinate PacBio's presence at regional and local-level conferences, including negotiation of the sponsorship, trade booth design and layout, and organization of workshops during or around the conference period. Will attend key regional meetings

  • Work with the AMER commercial team in developing the agenda for the annual User Group Meeting. Plan and coordinate with the Sales team to develop workshops or seminar series with KOLs and/or internal experts

  • Prepare and execute upon regional email campaigns, particularly as follow-up to local events and conferences

  • Partner with global Marcom team to build campaign briefs and communicate projects to all stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely execution of projects.

  • Increase awareness within the online scientific community, monitor social media trends, reporting on strategy and delivering accordingly upon the relevant platforms such as LinkedIn and Twitter

  • Focus on coordinating regional speakers and topics of interest to the AMER community

  • Seek input from the Sales Team in the region and work with Corporate Marketing teams to develop and deliver the required sales tools, ensuring all deliverables meet corporate & brand guidelines

  • Travel periodically (20%) with the Sales or FAS team on Customer visits or key regional events

  • Provide specific local market information and intelligence to team upon request. Maintain excellent market knowledge and intelligence in order to analyze future campaigns

  • Act as AMER point person for SFDC to support lead management and tracking for campaigns

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of a BS degree or equivalent experience in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or related field

  • 5+ years marketing or sales experience within the life science industry with a preference for the NGS marketplace (research and/or clinical)

  • Have recent hands-on experience with CRM systems, ideally Salesforce.com

  • While not required, the ideal candidate will have some experience with marketing automation tools such as Pardot or Marketo

  • Event planning experience is strongly preferred

  • The ideal candidate must be a strategic thinker but also be able to execute on plans

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Highly motivated, self-starter who can work with minimal supervision; able to work effectively within a primarily remote team and environment

  • Strong team player is required to work within a small team and contribute to the positive team spirit

  • Ability to prioritize requirements is essential in order to ensure that the allocated annual marketing budget is utilized most effectively for the region

  • The position allows for the candidate to be either headquarters- or home-based. Ability to easily access a major airport is required; domestic travel up to 20% time
