ATO Manufacturing and Clinical Supply (MCS):

As part of Amgen's Process Development organization, MCS continuously strives to be a leader in delivering superior, high quality manufacturing processes and commercially successful product presentations. The MCS organization is responsible for delivery of clinical and commercial products, process knowledge and technology solutions to advance Amgen's product portfolio and manufacturing strategy.

This role of ED Engineering for MCS reports into the Vice President, ATO Manufacturing and Clinical Supply (MCS) and has responsibility for leading the MCS Facilities & Engineering (F&E) team in ATO. Responsibilities for this team include optimizing asset life cycle management for manufacturing facilities in ATO, specifically Drug Substance and Drug Product Pilot Plants, Clinical and Commercial Drug Substance and Drug Product manufacturing facilities, Packaging, Assembly and Warehouse.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

F&E Organizational Leadership specifically:
  • Organisational leadership of teams >150 staff
  • Oversee talent management, including performance, career development, and succession
  • Provide technical expertise to assess emerging industry trends and partner with vendors to determine innovative opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, agility, and differentiation
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key site and network stakeholders
  • Ensure active engagement in Amgen global networks


Maintenance, Calibration & Utilities:
  • Oversight of all Utility System Owners for clean utilities, plant utilities, HVAC, and electrical
  • Oversee Instrumentation program and Analytical Equipment System Owners
  • Accountable for monitoring, analyzing and trending system performance
  • Oversee maintenance planning & scheduling process


Automation:
  • Application Development, Automation Infrastructure


Process Equipment Engineering:
  • Oversight of all Process Equipment System Owners in MCS facilities
  • Refresh Asset Care and Maintenance strategic plan to optimize system reliability and life cycle cost; assess predictive technologies for implementation


Facilities Management:
  • Oversight and accountability for services (internal and external)


Capital Projects:
  • Management of overall capital portfolio including project prioritization


Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree and 6 years of directly related experience in an Engineering discipline or a related technical field OR
  • Master's degree and 10 years of directly related experience in an Engineering discipline or a related technical field OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of directly related experience in an Engineering discipline or a related technical field AND
  • Minimum 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people in a multi-tiered organization and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven experience and track record of compliance in a highly regulated environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and partner in a complex, matrix environment
  • Experience providing technical support to manufacturing facilities
  • Continuous improvement methodology experience (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management (TQM), Reliability Centered Maintenance, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, etc.)

  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, including executive presentation skills
  • Interpersonal and facilitation skills necessary to forge consensus among competing client interests while ensuring objectives are met
