    Executive Chef opportunity in beautiful Golden, Colorado!!

    Sodexo has an opportunity for a Executive Chef at the Colorado School of Mines located in Golden, CO.  - less than 30 minutes from Denver!  The School of Mines is a prestigious engineering college with an enrollment of 5,900 students.  Sodexo features its premiere resident dining "Restaurant Collection" in a new facility (Mines Market) that features 8 individual dining platforms with display cooking. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Executive Chef oversees a salaried Chef Manager and 65 - 70 hourly employees, all food production systems for our resident dining program that serves between 2,500 to 2,800 meals per day for over 1,300 meal plan holders and high volume $1.1 million in catering.  The Executive Chef  will ensure Sodexo systems are in place, oversee food prep, prodcution, purchasing, food costs.

     

    The passion to serve great food while managing food cost within budget is a must. Successful candidates must be highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Food safety, sanitation and organization are high priorities. Strong interpersonal skills.

     

    The ideal candidate will have the following preferred qualifications/experience:

    • 3+ years of experience in a culinary leadership role, preferably within a campus setting.
    • High expectations for customer service and quality of food.  Being a strong, motivitaing leader in the kitchen.
    • High volume experience.
    • Strong understanding of financials as they to cost controls of food and labor.
    • Strong food safety and sanitation/HACCP standards.
    • Ability and willingness to develop and train hourly employees.
    • Passion for food and innovation  -Ability to think out of the box.

    Position Summary

    Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
    Key Duties
    - Implements & coordinates the culinary function. 
    - Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
    - Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
    - Manages catering & retail areas.
    - Customer & Client satisfaction.
    - Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
    -  Manages food & physical safety programs.

     

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree 
    Basic Management Experience - 2 years
    Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
