    Sodexo has an opportunity for an Executive Chef 2 for our long tenured (18+ year) contract at St. Catherine University located in St. Paul, MN.  In this highly visible role, you will direct culinary operations for a core retail food court and high-end catering in a fast-paced and dynamic account. St. Catherine University is an all-women’s Catholic School that educates students to lead and influence. Inspired by its visionary founding in 1905 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, more than a century later the University serves diverse students, with a baccalaureate college for women at its heart and graduate and associate programs for women and men.


    Reporting to the General Manager, our experienced Executive Chef will have oversight of all the culinary aspects of the food program and will direct back of the house operations, work with safety and HACCP compliance and create VIP catering experiences while overseeing up to 60+ associates. This position will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of client satisfaction through exceptional food and delivery of services.  


    We are looking for candidates who will:


    • take a hands on approach to managing the daily food production including production planning and controls while ensuring Sodexo Culinary Standards including recipe compliance and food quality;
    • manage food costing, controls and compliance;
    • develop menus;
    • have high expectations for customer service and quality of food;
    • have the ability and willingness to develop and train frontline employees;
    • have knowledge of special diets and allergens;
    • knowledge of Sodexo Food Management System (FMS) is preferred.

    The ideal candidate has:


    • a strong culinary background, with the demonstrated ability to stay current with new culinary trends;
    • excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to maintain the highest of standards and implements company policies;
    • previous experience working in a high volume facility; and
    • strong management skills;
    • experience inspiring, mentoring and training a kitchen staff; 
    • experience with online ordering/food and labor management;
    • high-energy and passion for culinary excellence;
    • innovative and creative flair

    Position Summary

    Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
    Key Duties
    - Implements & coordinates the culinary function. 
    - Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
    - Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
    - Manages catering & retail areas.
    - Customer & Client satisfaction.
    - Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
    -  Manages food & physical safety programs.


    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree 
    Basic Management Experience - 2 years
    Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
