    Sodexo Campus Dining has an opportunity for an Executive Chef 2 for Emporia State University located in Emporia, KS.  **RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE!**


    Emporia State is a great mid-sized university located in the heart of Kansas, with plenty of activities for the outdoors enthusiast.  The growing city of Emporia is situated between two metropolitan areas and offers the best of both worlds: quiet and slow at home while a short drive gets you to a major city, also keeping living costs down.  


    Emporia is full of activity with NCAA Division II athletics for men and women as well as outstanding theatre and the arts programs.  We serve as the premier event venue for regional meetings and conferences in the area as well as “wedding central” for many brides and grooms in the area by offering them an all-inclusive venue. 


    As Executive Chef, you will oversee all culinary operations including resident dining, retail food operations, catering and concessions.  Responsibilities for this hands-on role will include menu planning, inventory/ordering, purchasing, food & labor costing, catering, scheduling, training and safety/sanitation.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for spending time with students and teaching culinary skills in the kitchen.


    Reporting to the General Manager, the ideal Executive Chef candidate will have:


    • 3+ years of experience in a culinary leadership role within a large volume environment, preferably within campus dining
    • Catering or fine dining background.
    • Proven track record with cost controls, culinary processes, quality controls.
    • Computer literacy.
    • Strong working knowledge of food safety/sanitation.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

    Sodexo at Emporia State University has an exciting opportunity for a hands on Chef. Centrally located in between Kansas City and Wichita and only one hour from Topeka.  


    Position Summary

    Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
    Key Duties
    - Implements & coordinates the culinary function. 
    - Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
    - Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
    - Manages catering & retail areas.
    - Customer & Client satisfaction.
    - Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
    -  Manages food & physical safety programs.


    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree 
    Basic Management Experience - 2 years
    Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
