General Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who knows how to build great teams and deliver awesome software. You will lead a highly engaged team in a supportive environment and help people produce high quality software.

In this role, youre building tools for our fully automated pharmacy and our call center. Youll make it really easy to efficiently ship thousands of orders every day directly to peoples homes. Your customers are our pharmacists, our operations managers, and our pet care and practice support teams. If you love shows like How its made, youll love visiting our pharmacy and seeing your teams work in action. If you care about customers having great support experiences, youll be excited to deliver tools to make it easier for our support teams to help our customers.

You also care deeply about pets and ensuring they are healthy and happy. Essential Duties:

  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, product management, and quality on the teams vision, strategy, and metrics for success.
  • Manages and executes against project plans and delivery commitments within an Agile/Lean/Scrum environment.
  • Develops leaders who can work independently to achieve results.
  • Accountable for divisional KPIs and other service metrics.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, mentors, coaches, and motivates Engineers at different levels of experience.
  • Provide staff with feedback regarding performance metrics to include corrective action if necessary.
  • Ensure team is making good technical decisions that build towards a sustainable future.
  • Manage the activities of the team including nurturing their professional development and growth, providing guidance on technical matters, and promoting teamwork and cooperation.
  • Own the functionality, usability, reliability, performance, and supportability of the teams products and services.
  • Own the entire software life cycle from conception through deploy through the operation of the teams services.
  • Drive best practices and tooling to boost overall engineering productivity.
  • Other duties/tasks as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to lead teams toward organizational goals with successful outcomes
  • Proven ability to follow through with multiple projects and meet commitments
  • Solid technical acumen, including the ability to understand the customer or partner technology landscape, identify opportunities, and overcome any technical obstacles.
  • Ability to interact and work with all levels within the organization
  • Have a genuine passion for providing excellent customer service, having excellent customer service skills with ability to effectively diffuse and resolve customer complaints
  • Be innovative and have strong organizational and time management skills with ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, and a belief that team output is more important than individual output
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback in a professional manner
  • Must be able to use sound judgement and know when to ask for assistance
  • Ability to think creatively and apply strong analytical and problem solving skills, driving issues to resolution.
  • Must be innovative and have the ability to improve department efficiencies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively listen and communicate information in a clear, calm, and concise manner
  • Strong conflict resolution skills

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in software development or related field, should be combined with a demonstrated track-record of accomplishments, and with satisfying customers in technology-driven, developing companies.
  • Experience in a leadership role either as a direct manager or lead.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of people management experience in Software Development Engineering.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment where dogs are present
  • Able to work on a computer sitting for long periods of time
