Environmental Law Associate.  Orrick currently has an opportunity for an environmental law associate to join support our market-leading transactional practice in Washington, D.C., Houston, New York, or San Francisco. We are looking for an associate with three to six years of experience in the areas of energy and/or infrastructure-focused projects work (relating to renewables, power, oil & gas and/or infrastructure), including tax equity and project financing, project development, and/or M&A. Position offers opportunity to work closely with developers of renewable energy projects, tech startups, public companies and others with transactional challenges involving permitting, hazardous substances liability and climate change. We seek associates who enjoy working closely with clients in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

  • 3-6 years of experience.
  • Strong interest in all aspects of environmental law, including land use and project siting, renewable energy, climate change, ESG and species protection
  • Membership to the State Bar of the office of the state in which the candidate expects to be located is required.
  • Strong demonstrated skills in agreement drafting and negotiation essential.
  • Experience identifying environmental and permitting risk and negotiating the allocation of that risk, a plus.
