Job Title: Electrical Engineer I

JOB SUMMARY
Designs electromechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods.  Utilizes analytical approaches and fact-based information in developing innovation, strategy, and continuous improvements that integrate human, system, material, energy, information, and technology resources.  Develops solutions that are balanced between operational, financial, customer service, employee, and customer considerations.  Participates in Engineering or other company projects.  Interacts with plant & corporate management.  Minimizes downtime, improves productivity and insure product quality of all manufacturing equipment.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the design, development, and in-house testing of electrical systems for existing equipment as well as design and upgrade electrical systems for custom automated process equipment. 15%
Work closely with other electrical and controls engineers during project lifecycle. Ongoing
Generate high quality design, approval, and fabrication level drawings using AutoCad.
Create Bill of Material utilizing data base, and coordinate with purchasing department for
Procurement of materials for assigned projects.
Generate and update project schedules and design documents for assigned projects using various software packages including MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access. 5%
Track multiple project schedules at the same time, adhere to milestones, and to specifications to assure adherence to company mandates. 5%
Evaluate existing equipment, products, and processes for possible design improvements, cost efficiency, and reliability. 15%
Calculate power loads for detailed capacity and FLA evaluations. In general, itll be expected for incumbent to use general mathematical equations and algebraic calculations for design and validation purposes.
Be a strong team player, and coordinate work closely with other departments (Mechanical, Quality, Safety, and Procurement) to ensure time and cost effective project delivery. 15%
Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties. 5%
Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes. 5%
Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special services. 10%
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. 15%
Provides training on new processes and procedures that are developed by process management teams. Assists with development of training materials. 10%
Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations. Ongoing
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Ongoing

EDUCATION
Bachelors Degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or equivalent

EXPERIENCE
ENTRY LEVEL POSITION
0 - 2 years in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of AutoCAD & Production Simulation a plus
Excellent prioritization and project development skills

COMMUNICATION AND CONTACTS
Must have outstanding communication skills.  Daily Interactions with Engineers, Engineering Manager, Directors of Engineering, Plant Management, & other Company employees.  Interacts with other process and division personnel and outside vendors on a limited basis.

DECISION MAKING
Responsible for Engineering support for manufacturing facilities through the application of statistical analysis process enhancements data collection systems and strategic maintenance support. Participates on process management teams to minimize downtime improve productivity and insure product quality of all manufacturing equipment.  Perform initial and ongoing design reviews.  Deliver documentation offering a critical analysis and suggestions for correcting errors.  Identify process deficiencies and develop solutions to improve those deficiencies.  Submit a scope of work for each project that includes budgetary numbers and the goal of each project.
