Job Summary

The Director, US Supply Chain is a pivotal member of the U.S. Supply Chain organization and is accountable for leading the Regional Planning Team in the planning, life-cycle management, and inventory management of U.S. finished goods. The Director is responsible for delivery of Integrated Business Planning (IBP) for the U.S. region which includes demand consolidation oversight, strategic life-cycle management activities, metric tracking, and operational excellence projects. This role requires fostering strong cross-functional collaboration between Commercial and Operations in order to build strong relationships and ensure supply for the US market.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Directs and oversees U.S. Supply Chain planning operations, including demand and supply planning, inventory management across warehouse and distribution centers, and product life-cycle management.
  • Ensures that all demand planning requirements are integrated into plans to prevent supply delays. Requirements are inclusive of demand forecast, inventory targets, transition timing, distribution goods receipt time, management of exceptions in short-term planning horizon in close collaboration with Site and Global Planning.
  • Enforces accurate utilization of ERP and other planning systems to manage demand and supply plans for U.S. commercial finished goods.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop staff to not only be technically proficient and cGMP compliant, but also exemplify Amgen values and be adaptive to meet continuously evolving business needs. Ensure sufficient staff coverage to maintain uninterrupted business.
  • Partners with Site Supply Chain, Site Quality and U.S. Distribution to distribute products according to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and other applicable regulations.
  • Represent the regional commercial needs and work with supply network to resolve supply conflicts. Drives mitigation of significant quality, compliance, supply, and safety risks.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams in completing operations activities. Collaborate with the US Commercial organization (Brand teams, Trade Development, Customer Service, Distribution, Finance, etc.) to meet the rapidly evolving needs of the business.
  • Responsible for managing budget and driving continuous improvement projects within the Regional Planning organization.
  • Occasional international and domestic travel,


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of directly related experience

OR

Master's degree and 8 years of directly related experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 10 years of directly related experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical Expertise: advanced Degree in Supply Chain, Operations or Business with particular focus on demand and supply planning, product life cycle management, forecasting, production planning/master scheduling and monitoring inventory levels within biotech/pharma industry.
  • General Experience: knowledge of SAP/ERP systems, experience with GMP / GDP regulations
  • Leadership: proven ability to lead both direct reports and cross-functional teams; strong situational leadership skills, ability to lead staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Accountability and Autonomy: independent self-starter. Ability to set clear goals and effectively prioritize team's workload, operate autonomously and deliver high-quality work output while under pressure and in teams. Understands what it means to own something and be accountable.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: ability to tackle complex and ambiguous problems, provide clarity of thought, and deliver results. Able to recognize strategic and tactical implications of complex product development activities. Able to apply DAI model and make risk appropriate decisions, escalate when necessary in a timely manner.
  • Teamwork: builds positive relationships across the network, can effectivelymotivate and influence cross functional teams and a diverse set of partners.
  • Analytical and Financial Skills: strong analytical and business skills and ability to summarize analysis and manage a budget.
  • Communication: ability to distill complex information and tailor both written and verbal communication in a concise, logical, audience-appropriate manner.
  • Operational Excellence: 6 Black Belt, APICS, CPIM or CIRM certification(s).
