Provide leadership and strategic vision to the Office of Student Financial Aid. This position serves in a leadership and fiduciary capacity that ensures the College of DuPage complies with all federal, state, and other regulatory agencies rules. Leads the plan for disbursement of Title IV and donor funding. This position requires the ability to implement a packaging philosophy, and plan, administer, direct, and coordinate the College's federal, state, and institutional financial assistance. The director utilizes data to report and assess the awarding process, and reviews student service and awarding efficiencies and support, and compliance with federal and state program requirements, as well as institutional policies and procedures.



  • Provide leadership and direction for the effective administration of federal Title IV, state, institutional, and foundation scholarships.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of goals and objectives for the Financial Aid Office.
  • Develop, implement, and administer policies and procedures concerning the operation of federal Title IV programs, state, and institutional and foundation scholarships, implementing revisions as necessary to comply with federal and state regulations and comply with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the evaluation of eligibility and awarding of all Title IV programs to all qualified applicants in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the management and monitoring of Title IV program funds in regards to Federal Direct Student Loans and Campus Based Programs - SEOG and Federal Work Study. Develop policy and procedures in accordance with disbursement rules and regulations.
  • Ensure the delivery of a high quality customer service to students, prospective students, parents, college personnel and scholarship donors.
  • Support enrollment management goals by initiating communication campaigns in collaboration with the registration, admissions and outreach offices, through the provision of financial aid counseling and financial aid education information, cost of education, financial aid opportunities and eligibility requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of statistical information for state, federal and institutional reporting within the deadline limitations. Submit the FISAP and Gainful Employment information by Department of Education established deadlines.
  • Ensures the maintenance of financial aid records in accordance with government regulations.
  • Complete and update the Department of Education recertification requirements for continued participation in Title IV programs.
  • Plan and monitor the effective allocation of resources including the Financial Aid budget, facilities and capital needs. Manage and monitor the office operational funds.
  • Responsible for staff hiring, training, and evaluation, and for identifying staff developmental opportunities that create a culture of continuous quality improvement for in person and online services.
  • Responsible for overseeing the yearly financial aid set-up and implement of Ellucian Colleague software updates.
  • Oversee the administration and work quality of outside vendor contracts.
  • Collaborate with the DuPage College Foundation and other scholarship donors to ensure the effective award of scholarships.
  • Promote an understanding of financial aid programs and ensure that academic programs are designed in a way to maximize the availability of financial aid to students.
  • Promote the Financial Aid Office and its services to the college community, high schools, and other agencies within the college district. Participate in various promotional events on campus to raise awareness of the office and develop and disseminate appropriate print and electronic materials that explain financial aid.
  • Serve as collaborative member of the Student Affairs leadership team, working closely with other Directors and Deans to serve the students and College.


REQUIRED:

EXPERIENCE:

5 - 7 years direct Financial Aid experience with three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience managing a medium to large Financial Aid operation. Deep knowledge of state and federal financial aid regulations; maintains an awareness of proposed changes and trends. Successful completion of Title IV, HEA program training. Strong written and verbal communications with proven ability to maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external constituents in order to provide support for the office and the students it serves. Experience utilizing federal and state electronic systems (such as GAP, COD, NSLDS, SAIG, CPS, FISAP, E-APP).

EDUCATION:

Master's degree in accounting, education, business, or related field.

Seven or more years direct Financial Aid experience in a large comprehensive community college environment. Supervision and leadership work in Financial Aid with four (4) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience.

Experience working with Ellucian Colleague.

Travel required representing the office as appropriate. Office setting with high volume student services.
