Job Title:   Plant Manager

 

Position Summary:

Oversees all daily operations of plant production.
Keeps production at maximum capacity while working within financial controls.
Ensures all required quality and regulatory standards are met.
Develops processes for maximizing safety, quality and productivity.
The key operational representative to the regional leadership team, including management and leadership of Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, Transportation and Facilities Management operations and the administration and monitoring of regional operations with a specific focus on associate development, continuous improvement and equipment performance enhancements.
 

Key Duties / Responsibilities:  

 

 

Direct the creation and execution of regional strategic operations initiatives.  
Provide tactical and strategic organizing, planning and control of all production, quality assurance, maintenance and warehouse, including transportation, activities while also providing strategic input regarding future market and/or production changes.  
Specific focus on major projects, process improvement initiatives, material flow, material management and capital funding requirements. 
Provide leadership, coaching and professional development guidance to the manufacturing management team  that includes, but is not limited to, the Production Manager, Production Shift Managers/Supervisors, Warehouse Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor and assigned Cell Leads working in the Production and Warehouse departments clearly focusing on the needs of the business and our associates.
Establish a strong working relationship with all cross functional partners, maintain effective communications required to enhance regional operations, including customer interfaces, and compliance with company policies and procedures.   
This includes working closely with the Client Services Senior Production Liaison to address client copy issues, improve client copy quality and meet client expectations.  
Accountable for the development and implementation of the plant safety program, performance management program and performance incentive programs. 
Providing an environment that provides for the safety, health and welfare of associates and the security of company assets at all times. 
Manage leader and cell lead preparation for the Associate Engagement Survey. 
Responsible for all aspects of facility management and managing the relationship with all vendors that provide material support to the plant. 
Development of a strategy that assures the on-time delivery of correctly produced client copy, shared mail packages and shared mail bundles, that meet United States Postal Service requirements, by the United States Postal Service or Private Carrier Delivery. 
Sustain positive associate relations that provide for the fair and impartial administration of company policies and procedures through the management team and associate workforce.
Sustain the plants focus on the vital few which include the: associates, business, costs, key metrics, safety, morale, associate engagement, performance management and accountability for results. 
Possesses the skills required to be an effective Change Agent.
 

 

Education & Knowledge:

Proven track record of performance management, performance improvement, delivering results that meet or exceed expectations and managing and/or reducing costs.
4 year college degree in Business or Management, MBA desirable.
Six-sigma and lean management helpful.
 
Experience / Skills / Abilities:

8-12 years of progressive experience in production management and leadership roles of increasing responsibility.
Ability to think strategically while simultaneously managing tactical day to day operations.
Proven track record of performance management, performance improvement, delivering results that meet or exceed expectations and managing and/or reducing costs.
High level of organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lead / manage multiple operational sites simultaneously, if required. .
Strong problem solving, communication and presentation skills. 
Able to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast pace environment.
Computer proficiency.
 

Supervisory Responsibility:

Provide leadership, coaching and professional development guidance to the manufacturing management team  that includes, but is not limited to, the Production Manager, Production Shift Managers/Supervisors, Warehouse Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor and assigned Cell Leads working in the Production and Warehouse departments clearly focusing on the needs of the business and our associates.
Communicate job performance standards to associates. 
Provide timely and consistent feedback, coach and motivate associates to exceed expectations. 
Develop performance improvement plans as appropriate and administer corrective action as needed.
Responsible for fair and consistent administration of company policies and procedures.
Communication & Contacts:

Company Leaders  
Collaborates with Internal clients (Sales, MDT, Postal Relations) in the resolution of Client issues.
Collaborates with Sales in the resolution of Client relations issues.
External Clients as needed.
Hourly and Salaried associates.
Temporary Staffing vendors for staffing management.
 

Decision Making Scope:

Strategic alignment of Operations to Regional business requirements.
Strategic staffing and development.
Development of key processes which maximize operations efficiency.
Capital expenditure and invoice approval.
Co-leadership and cross-functional support of strategic corporate initiatives.
