General Description: Niagara County Community College is seeking a Director of Community Education in our Workforce Development department. This position is responsible for the administration and operation of the College's community and workforce development education programs associated with the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute ( NFCI ). The incumbent will be responsible for recommending related objectives, policies and strategies to the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs - Workforce Development, to ensure high quality programs.

Typical Work ActivitiesEssential Functions:
1. Business Engagement - Actively solicit new businesses and coordinate customized trainings to close employee skill gaps to ensure business growth or increased effectiveness.

2. Develop, coordinate, implement, and asses all Community and Workforce education programs associated with the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.

3. In conjunction with the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs Workforce Development, develop a business/strategic plan for Culinary programs

4. Identify grant, foundation, or private funding for workforce training and education or other opportunities for NFCI / NCCC .

5. Coordinate schedules and arrange staffing for all Continuing Education and Workforce Development classes

6. Ensures efficient record keeping procedures, including enrollment, personnel, and expenditure records, including documentation of enrollment, personnel actions, and budget expenditures as required by applicable College policies and local and state regulations.

7. Incorporate all external regulatory information affecting continuing and workforce development education programs to ensure such programs follow rules and regulations for the conduct of all activities at the NFCI .

8. Supervise, evaluate, and develop professional and support personnel assigned to or contracted by the Director of Community Education.

9. Schedule events per college policy to ensure NFCI's master calendar of events is kept current.

10. Develop new programs including hybrid, on-line, and micro-credentials to provide flexible, responsive training for local businesses

11. Develop and maintain relationships externally with various community, professional, and business groups to promote NFCI and Workforce Development offerings

12. Develops and monitors departmental budget

13. Conducts regular program evaluation and business surveys to align Workforce Development offerings to local workplace needs

14. Performs other duties as assigned

Essential Functions: Must be able to relate to a diverse population; must be able to communicate with individuals and groups both orally and in writing; must be able to operate computers, write reports and directives, and maintain records; must be able to physically perform the duties of the position; must be able to relate to the general public, staff, faculty and senior administration officials of the college; must be able to participate in community events; must be able to work various hours that may include evenings and weekends.

Required Qualifications: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Culinary/ Hospitality Management/Restaurant management. Three years' paid, working experience in a corporate culinary or hospitality setting or workforce education and/or continuing education. Experience developing training and managing budgets.

Desirable Qualifications: Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Adult Education or a Hospitality/Tourism related field; Certified Executive Chef through the ACF ; Certified in TIPS and ServSafe as a Trainer/Instructor and Proctor. PSI Test Center Administrator (proctor), Certified Evaluator and Site Administrator for ACF certifications; experience working with businesses, school districts, or community based organizations providing needs assessments, workforce development, or community education; experience in marketing, advertising and management; experience as a director of a community/continuing education program.
