Reporting to the Executive Director of Global/US Medical Communications, the successful candidate will lead the advancement of multi-channel/digital innovation and execution within the Global Medical organization, with strong partnership in all of Amgen's operational regions. Scope includes development of medical multi-channel/digital strategic platform, global/regional guidance on multi-channel strategies to meet specific educational goals of various therapeutic areas, and executional expertise on selection of optimal channels (e.g., closed-loop HCP social media platforms), content creation for various channels, and search engine optimization. Scope also includes the direct oversight of development and implementation of new digital initiatives in Medical, such as Medical Information AI solutions on websites to enable self-service and evaluation/selection of solutions for virtual connectivity with opinion leaders for advisory or educational purposes. The Medical Communications Multi-channel/Digital Innovation Director will work closely with cross-functional and cross-geographic partners and Global Medical leadership, including global & regional Medical/Scientific Communications, Medical Operations, IS, Regulatory, Legal, and Compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

·Lead the development and formalization of Amgen Medical's strategy/approach to multi-channel/digital communication and related process refinement

·Utilize expertise in medical digital execution to further Amgen's capability globally and in the regions and countries

· Ensure global/regional input, appropriate prioritization of needs, and resource allocation to meet capability goals on-time and within budget

·Awareness of regulatory landscape globally and provide appropriate guidance for the development of digital initiatives

·Knowledge of social listening and surveillance of digital trends and upcoming technologies

· Manage staff with specific digital expertise (i.e., bio visualization) and regional accountability (i.e., US Medical Digital & Innovation)

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional colleagues

· Create strong links with global/regional/local Medical Affairs teams

· Recruit and retain high-performing & empowered staff

·Actively support and enhance the career development of employees within MedCom

· Ensure compliance with all applicable policies and procedures

· Develop and adapt operational processes to streamline resource efficiencies

· Manage and accountable for project-associated budgets and vendors

· Approximately 10-20% travel

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Biotech/Pharma experience

OR

Master's degree and 8 years of Biotech/Pharma experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Biotech/Pharma experience

AND

4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Requirements

•MD, PharmD, PhD, or MBA with 2 or more years of multi-channel/digital experience in Medical/Scientific Affairs in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry

• Prior experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

•An understanding of the pharmaceutical commercialization process and knowledge of the regulatory and legal guidelines affecting promotion of prescription products and scientific exchange

•Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management, project planning, aptitude in presenting on strategic and technical topics, and strong ability for self-direction

•Demonstrated capability to translate strategy into clear, understandable operational plans in a matrix environment with limited supervision

•The ability to work in teams and interface in a dynamic environment across corporate functions
