Amgen is seeking a Director Information Systems (IS) - Global Infrastructure Services to join the Global Infrastructure Services team and will be responsible for coordinating several key services within Global Infrastructure Services delivery(outsourced, led service providers, contingent workers and staff) related to Amgen's application hosting infrastructure. These services include Amgen's operating system management, virtualization and automation as well as other technology platforms. The environment includes the following platforms and services: Windows, Citrix, VMware, data center operations, Unix, Middleware, web hosting, clustering, etc.

The Director IS will be part of the Global Infrastructure Services leadership team and will support the Executive Director Global Infrastructure Services based at Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL.This leader will work to deliver as well as continuously improve the solution architecture. They will play a significant role inspiring change across the IS function with the continued engagement of key partners and opinion leaders to support business objectives. This will require excellent leadership skills, proven communication, interpersonal and customer-facing skills to be successful.

Key Activities include:

  • Develop, coordinate, direct and lead a large staff including 6+ direct reports, ~25 total FTE staff and over 50 contingent workers
  • Lead all aspects of large global projects, in addition to an operating budget of ~ $30M
  • Review infrastructure service portfolio technology and services for remaining useful life and capacity and prepare plans for "lifecycle management and refresh"
  • Ensure the optimal availability and operation of IS Infrastructure to deliver the services needed for Amgen's critical businesses
  • Coordinate with internal teams and service providers to ensure infrastructure requests are planned, executed and achieve business/cost objectives
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise IT policy, process, procedures and controls by all staff
  • Provide the leadership and detailed technical expertise for the overall operating system, datacenter, automation and virtualization
  • Travel: International and Domestic travel up to 25% - short notice travel


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Master's degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

And

4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related field
  • 10+ yrs of IT operations experience, to include 5+ years-experience in leading multiple, medium to large, multi-functional teams or projects, in areas such as network design and administration, data center operations, and systems programming and administration at similar sized organization or operating environment
  • 3+ yrs experience in leading in a highly regulated environment (Pharmaceutical, Bio-technology, Food, Beverage, Healthcare, or related industry) fulfilling GxP and SOX requirements
  • 5+ yrs experience providing strategic direction in a multi-vendor outsourced service provider environment for a similarly sized organization
  • Agile project management, time management, and conflict resolution/management skills
  • Experience with SOX and GxP compliance and in depth knowledge of security issues as they pertain to protection of Intellectual Property and Personally Identifiable Information
