Why Lytx

The Director, Cloud Services will lead the definition, design and support of Cloud Services that accelerate our product engineering teams and enable industry leading service levels. This position will work with Product Development, Applied Machine Learning, Product Management, Legal, Finance, Customer Support, and other departments to plan, execute, and evaluate compute and data services that meet our product, customer, financial, security, and legal objectives. You will have the opportunity and skills to define and execute a vision to provide infrastructure and data as services and enable:
  • Millions of mobile devices with 24X7 connectivity
  • Low latency streaming of location, AI inferences, ECM, and other vehicle operation data from mobile devices located throughout the world
  • Support ingestions of millions of transactions per second
  • Complex network architecture with least cost routing, edge cloud computing, public and private clouds
  • Support a diverse set of compute applications including: Mobile devices, Edge Cloud nodes, Cloud APIs, Web Applications, Transactional Data Services, Analytical Data Services, and AI.
  • Security risk management strategy that includes security awareness, security vulnerability management, and security incident management.


What you will do
  • Inspire, lead and align the Cloud Services team with other departments, including career planning, mentoring, project leadership, and team building.
  • You will drive engineering practices that enable great products and meaningful employee experiences.
  • Define, plan and execute strategic roadmaps so that all engineering teams can utilize fully automated, self-service, highly scalable, cost-efficient, observable, auditable and reliable infrastructure services as standard practice, includes DevOps and automation.
  • Support the enterprise with high availability, disaster recovery, and security,
  • Develop measurements to communicate team's effectiveness and support additional investment in software, tooling, or compute resources.
  • Operate in a private cloud and hybrid cloud environment.
  • Understand engineering needs and translate them into systems that can be replicated, automated, and monitored to ensure compliance with operational standards while enabling teams to move at a greater velocity.
  • Plan and operate a network configuration across edge devices, private cloud, public cloud and office network.
  • Partner closely with quality and product teams to achieve high priority security, privacy, compliance, reliability, business-continuity and new product objectives.
  • Work with internal and external security resources to prioritize and execute security risk management program that includes security awareness, vulnerability management, and incident management for infrastructure and application level security. DDoS mitigation, WAF, etc.
  • Design, create, scale, and operate a big data architecture and associated technologies to process data at PB scale.The architecture supports a variety of persistent technologies including geospatial and temporal databases and related visualization.
  • Scale cloud platform and supporting REST APIs for internal and external access.
  • Support a diverse technology stack including AI/ML and edge/cloud computing, various front end and backend technologies.
  • Build?and manage vendor relationships, interacting with?third-party contributors and facilitate effective partnerships.
  • Leading teams through complex multi month projects with clear goals, deliverables, measurements, and milestones.

What you need
  • Minimum 12 years of product engineering or IT infrastructure experience including substantial and complex whole life cycle device development management experience.
  • Extensive experience in working across with a Software Engineering organization to deliver enterprise service levels to market
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in a leadership role developing, aligning and working through their team to deliver enterprise technology.
  • Deep technical background in systems, enterprise scale, and security for mobile devices and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience in containerization, scaling and operate workloads in the most efficient ways across a hybrid cloud.
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or relevant experience required
