Job Description Summary
The Director of Assurance of Learning (AoL) and Accreditation will design, develop, and implement strategies to assess and improve the quality and effectiveness of curricular learning at Bentley University. This position is responsible for ensuring strategic alignment and compliance with Bentley University's New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) and EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditations. This role will not have responsibility for ensuring the University's Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation; however, it will support the Dean of Business and other faculty to comply with AASCB standards.

Essential Duties
  • Identify areas of assessment needed per current national standards and best practices.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and monitor academic programs.
  • Work directly with the Dean of Business, and Arts & Sciences, Associate Deans, Department Chairs, the Curriculum Implementation Committee, and other faculty to coordinate data collection for programmatic assessment each fall, spring, and summer.
  • Inform academic leadership about current research, national trends, and best practices related to the work associated with academic innovation and academic assurance.
  • Support the Provost with the development, implementation, and evaluation of the University's strategic and operational plans.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative leadership and others to ensure that the appropriate corrections in areas of non-compliance are made in a timely manner.
  • Ensure Bentley's compliance with NECHE and EQUIS standards and support efforts to comply with AACSB standards.
  • Review and issue all documents that are to be sent to the above-mentioned accrediting bodies.
  • Maintain copies of essential regulatory documents (from accrediting bodies) at the University.
  • Attend AoL and assessment seminars, workshops, and conferences.
  • Represent Bentley in conference panels and other high-visibility fora, and disseminate information and knowledge gathered at those events to Bentley faculty and staff.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality of personal and institutional information in accordance with University policy and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Business, Education, or other relevant discipline
  • One to three years of experience in curricular or educational assessment or program monitoring/quality improvement.
  • 5 years of experience in educational/academic setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of college-wide programs and services.
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Working knowledge of current principles and procedures of higher education strategic and operational planning.
  • Familiarity with accrediting expectations and practices, including those of USA-based accrediting agencies.
  • Understanding of FERPA, Title IX, and all University Academic Rules and Regulations.
  • Excellent organization, detail orientation, and time management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external constituencies and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to tailor presentations and research findings to the needs of various constituencies.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in psychology, education or business preferred.
  • Experience with software products relating to data analysis and customized report programming preferred.


Work Environment
  • Typical office setting with extensive sitting and computer work
  • Ability to travel to meetings around campus
