This position is funded by a grant. Continuation is based upon available funds.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Database and registry management
• Processes incoming data from hospitals
• Manages secure data transmission using WebPlus and PhinMS including credentials of reporters
• Participates in conference calls and webinars relating to data linkages and cancer registry procedures
• Conducts data linkages
• Perform geocoding of database as required
• Creates data extracts
• Annually transmits data deliverables to national cancer registry organiations
• Works with Geisel Research Computing to streamline database management procedures
• Ability to work with a range of software tools based on available documentation

Registry procedures
• Streamlines and documents data management protocols
• Maintains and updates data security protocol

Registry Standards
• Reviews New Hampshire cancer reports to determine their completeness and accuracy in accordance with national and state reporting standards.
• Collaborates with reporting facilities to address issues of reporting, access to records, and confidentiality.
• Carries out established central registry policies, procedures and quality assurance efforts.
• Reads and understands required national standards for all facets of registry operations.

Field Work
• Schedules and performs site visits at designated New Hampshire reporting facilities as needed to abstract reportable cancer cases in accordance with national and state standards.
• Facilitates and coordinates the reporting of initial case (rapid) reports from reporting sources.
• Visits New Hampshire hospitals as assigned to check reliability of information abstracted from charts; reviews pathology and patient charts for accuracy and completeness of case finding.
• Works with more senior registry staff and local hospital registrars to address patterns of inaccurate or incomplete reporting.

Communication/Visits
• Collaborates with local hospitals to ensure that patterns of accurate and complete reporting are maintained; addresses problems of non-reporting and/or untimely reporting of data and poor quality data submission; implements individual improvement plans.
• Meets with hospital personnel to ensure that patterns of accurate and complete reporting are maintained.
• Effectively communicates and personally supports the department values to foster inclusiveness and diversity.

Program Activities:
• Enters and maintains patient data to conform to registry operational standards.
• Identifies, registers, and maintains records of all New Hampshire cancer patients though the central tumor registry data system.

Professional Development
• Maintains network of professional contacts and membership in professional organizations to facilitate quality control activities.
• Participates in local, regional, or national cancer organizations and meetings.
• Obtains Certified Tumor Registrar qualification, and maintains CTR status.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Note: Employment will be contingent upon possession of a valid U.S. or Canadian driver's license and continued qualification as an Approved Driver under the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy.
