POSITION SUMMARY

The HIM Data Integrity Coordinator assures accurate and complete patient visit information by working with other departments to investigate and resolve identified problems. This position is responsible for merging and unmerging patient charts (both inpatient and outpatient), and assisting to maintain an accurate master patient index in multiple systems. The HIM Data Integrity Coordinator will respond to audits by verifying requests and placing requested charts in audits queues for review. This position will perform medical record reviews as needed and work closely with nursing to collate and tabulate all medical record review results received and report this information to the appropriate committees and councils. This position serves as the administrator for access to the former Electronic Health Records (i.e. Alpha Systems). This position also serves as the administrator for access to the Release of Information vendor/system. The Coordinator communicates new provider numbers to key individuals within the health system. This position also works closely with Outsourcing vendors (Transcription Services, Release of Information vendor, and Record Storage Vendor) to ensure compliance with AtlantiCare policies and practices, as well as and integrity of all data and processes as it relates to the patient health record. The HIM Data Integrity Coordinator must be proficient in written and oral communication and proficient in Excel.

This position works closely with the Privacy Department to track and respond to amendment requests.

The e position reconciles the unmatched lab queue on a daily basis to assure lab results post appropriately to the correct patient and provider

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Registered Health Information Technician, (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 5 years' experience in a Health Information Management department of an acute care facility required.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.

This sedentary position requires near visual acuity, finger and hand dexterity, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
