Within Amgen's Research and Development organization, the Computational and Data Sciences (CDS) team strives to revolutionize the design and discovery of breakthrough differentiating therapeutics. Driven by passion and commitment, the CDS team provides actionable insights from physical and data modeling to accelerate therapeutic discovery.

As part of a multi-disciplinary research team, the Data Analyst will utilize data analytic techniques to help advance drug discovery programs through:
  • Managing and analyzing research and operational data.
  • Developing data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Partnering with scientists on project teams to compile specialized reports and data visualizations using standard business reporting and scientific data analysis applications.
  • Collaborating with project teams and functions to establish and automate business performance capabilities such as lead, cycle and queue time, labor intensiveness, work product quality (right the first time) and process variability.
  • Collaborating with project teams and functions to access workflow capacity and constraints using scientific applications, data and process simulation applications such as Simul8.


Basic Qualifications

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years related data analysis experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in bioinformatics, bioengineering, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology or related field.
  • Proficiency in data analysis (utilizing tools such as Spotfire, Tableau, Minitab, Excel) and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in programming and informatic tool development (such as with Python, Pipeline Pilot).
  • Experience performing data analytics in scientific or technical environments.
  • Experience working on small molecule drug discovery projects in a pharma or biotech setting.
  • Strong communication, project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary team environment.
