Job summary:
The Cost Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of the costing function. In some cases where relevant, processes, reporting, and analysis currently lacking will be created to meet the company’s objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare relevant, periodic costing reports – both detailed BOM and summaries by model.
- Review product line and plant performance, including pricing and costing to ensure all material and overhead costs are properly identified, captured and accounted for.
- Assist Operations with labor tracking standard labor hours by model/option content.
- Assist in all functional areas with a goal to measure and improve profitability and overall financial performance.
- Assist in evaluating current inventory cycle count procedures and make recommendations as necessary.
- Assist in investigating physical inventory variances by identifying actual use vs standard build.
- Assist in developing/enhancing “dashboard” type reporting tools and outputs.
- Ensure accurate costing of all units, many of which are for different product lines, styles, and have different option content.
- Work closely with operations team (“walking the plant floor”) to find root causes.

Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):
- B.S. in business or accounting/finance is required. CPA and with strong knowledge of US GAAP is preferred.
- Experience with fully-integrated accounting package (JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, MAPICS preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook
- Minimum of two years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably one that includes both manufacturing and assembly.
- Highly proficient with data analysis tools
- Excellent cost accounting knowledge and analytical skills.
- Excellent budgeting and forecasting skills.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be a highly motivated self-starter with a high degree of initiative, creativity, and problem solving ability.
- Exhibit the ability to think creatively; communicate at a high level, both verbally and in written form; manage a number of projects at one time; and possess great attention to detail.
