Position Title:
Corporate Parts Manager

The Corporate Parts Manager is responsible for daily requisition processing and order management from Maintenance departments company-wide. Assist technicians to determine the parts needed for repairs and maintenance. Maintain dynamic inventory of parts and supplies through use of computerized systems (Infor EAM and Oracle) and standard methods. Perform weekly and monthly checks on emergency safety systems.

This position will serve as in-house distributor of machinery part orders to branch locations for all manufacturing equipment in Valassis Direct Mail.  The position has responsibility for managing corporate parts inventories and trending parts usage.  The position is responsible for inventory management and is required to maintain an up-to-date asset inventory by branch for all production-related equipment in direct mail.  This position will ensure inventory control needs are consistently met by improving and developing inventory management process and procedures.

Maintains supplier relations, negotiate parts pricing. Ensure that drop-ship parts are readily available.  Works with field maintenance in order to ensure work orders are received and invoices can be properly issued and closed out. 5%
Design and implement an inventory tracking system to optimize inventory control procedures. 10%
Responsible for identifying equipment critical spare parts and developing a strategy to mitigate production issues.  Critical spare parts defined as parts with an end of life of less than 2 years with no available replacements and can shut down production. 10%
Document deliveries and shipments to update inventory levels.  Examine and adjust, if necessary, the levels of supplies and raw material to determine shortages.  Perform daily analysis to predict potential inventory problems. 25%
Prepare detailed reports on inventory operations, stock levels and adjustments. 5%
Analyze different suppliers to obtain the best cost effective deals. 5%
Manages and maintains pre-determined inventory levels for in-stock parts.  Provides inventory list identifying location of stored materials and available location storage. 25%
Places orders for branches based on Purchase Order submissions using Oracle or Infor EAM systems. Fulfills orders and ships from inventory or arranges drop-ship from vendor.  Ensures all deliveries are made in a timely manner and provides accurate delivery information to direct mail locations. 10%
Assist with development and maintenance of departmental policies, standard operating procedures, and recordkeeping 5%

Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university in Business or relevant field (Required)

5+ years experience in inventory, distribution or operational procedures
Knowledge of data analysis, inventory management software, and forecasting techniques.
Proven organizational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Proven computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Knowledge of a computerized inventory system
Ability and willingness to work independently, with limited direction and supervision
Ability to retain knowledge of procedures and processes and understand complex instructions and multi-step procedures  
Ability to identify and resolve problems independently and in a timely manner, escalating to appropriate level as needed. 


Work closely with maintenance departments at all branches to inform them of pertinent information, such as inventory issues and expected deliveries
Communicate with equipment vendors and various suppliers regarding quotes, orders, and shipments
Work with IT department to resolve any issues or initiate and complete requests with computerized management systems

Make ordering decisions to replenish inventory and ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.
Make inventory change recommendations based on historical usage information and known supply issues
Make vendor/supplier update recommendations based on supply issues and cost


Physical requirements include some heavy lifting and carrying of awkward loads up to 50 pounds, frequent requirement to kneel, crouch, and reach. Sitting for long periods of time.  Working conditions are in a typical office setting but include intermittent exposure to high noise (hearing protection required) and occasional exposure to outdoor weather throughout the year
