The Compliance Data Scientist Manager, based out of our global headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA, or potentially, remotely-based, supports Enterprise Compliance Analytics within Worldwide Compliance and Business Ethics at Amgen. The Data Scientist will report to the Principal of Data Analytics.

The Compliance Data Scientist Manager, internally known as the Data Scientist, utilizing quantitative analytical skills to challenge the status quo and embed advanced analytics in compliance-related projects, is responsible for designing, building, implementing and maintaining innovative data products to help identify trends and generate insights from both structured and unstructured data.

The Compliance Data Scientist Manager responsibilities include:
  • Drives cross functional analytics projects from beginning to end; from building relationships with key stakeholders to identifying appropriate data sets, conducting analytics and summarizing / presenting key insights in support of decision making
  • Uses analytic tools and scientific rigor to produce actionable insights
  • Presents results to various levels within the organization
  • Builds and maintains automated analytics work for internal clients within SAS EBI
  • Drives strategic and innovative approaches to solve key business problems
  • Performs ad hoc analytics as needed and support priority projects


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 3 years of data science and/or statistics and/or data mining and/or business analytics and/or computer science experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of data science and/or statistics and/or data mining and/or business analytics and/or computer science experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of data science and/or statistics and/or data mining and/or business analytics and/or computer science experience

OR

Highschool diploma/GED and 12 years data science and/or statistics and/or data mining and/or business analytics and/or computer science experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and demonstrated competency with statistical programming languages and analyses of complex data sets
  • Expert with healthcare compliance activities data including but not limited to Fees-for-Service data, External Funding data, Ethics Point data, RML data, Salesforce data, SAP and Concur data
  • Experience with SAS EBI tools (Base SAS, Enterprise Guide, Stored Processes, SAS Portal, etc.)
  • Experience with Unix, SAS in Unix environment, Oracle, SQL Server, Tableau, SQL and other languages
  • Ability to solve complex business problems, sometimes in ambiguous situations
  • Experience with unstructured data
  • Experience processing, filtering, and presenting large quantities of data stored in data warehouse or data lake repositories
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms is a plus (e.g. Amazon Web Services)
  • Ability to think strategically and in terms of the business to help teams synthesize business problems and recommend analytical approaches to formulate insights
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a team-based environment
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences
  • Proficient with data visualization tools
  • Energetic, detail oriented with a optimistic outlook
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
