Communications Program Assistant

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Communications Program Assistant (PA) supports communications and alumni activities as part of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program administered by AMIDEAST. The PA will be responsible for creating and editing creative content for the program’s social media and program-related outreach materials. The PA will also assist with database management for both current grantees and alumni.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and edit content for print and digital materials including social media posts, short videos, program materials and graphics
  • Edit blog submissions from grantees and alumni to produce high quality success stories
  • Draft social media posts for monthly toolkits
  • Develop and curate digital content showcasing Fulbright alumni activities
  • Monitor content for the Fulbright MENA alumni Facebook group
  • Upload blogs on Medium and resource databases
  • Track social media activity and engagement
  • Coordinate virtual communication assets for timely uploads
  • Assist with updating the AMIDEAST Fulbright web pages as needed
  • Assist with alumni grant administration and maintaining alumni database
  • Assist with Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) communications

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a year of experience with social media 
  • Experience managing social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, Medium, LinkedIn, Hootsuite, Sprout Social etc.)
  • Experience in digital community management
  • Proven writing and editing skills with the ability to convey ideas in a creative and clear style
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word and Excel

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with HTML, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere
  • Understanding of social media best practices for non-profits
  • Graphic design, photo and video editing skills
