Position: The College of Fine Arts and Communication invites applications for a non-tenure track, 10-month contractual lecturer position toteach courses in the undergraduate program in Communication Studies with 500 majors beginning August 2020.

Responsibilities: Faculty assigned an instructional workload of eight (8) course units per academic year. We are seeking a faculty member who specializes in various forms of public performance, including advocacy and argument, advanced public speaking, persuasion, and/or performance studies, with a priority given to candidates who teach through the lens of social justice and empowerment. The candidate will teach courses at the Towson University Northeast (TUNE) campus on a rotating basis, as needed. Service, including advising, to the department, college, and university is required. Applicants whose work incorporates a global perspective and a demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications: Earned M.A./M.S. in the field of communication studies or related field and demonstrated success or potential as a classroom teacher. Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff. Strong level of knowledge of communication theory and argumentation/advocacy is required. Professional experience is a plus.

The Department: The Communication Studies major focuses on theoretical and practical argument development through a close examination of the ways in which ideas are discussed, advocated for, and circulated in public and private life. The department (towson.edu/comm) offers a major and minor in Communication Studies and offers the program at our main campus and our Towson University Northeast (TUNE) campus. The department annually enrolls approximately 500 majors served by 11 full-time and 25 part-time faculty members.
