General Overview


This part-time position oversees claims program for the U.S. Rotary Club and District Liability Insurance Program (Program), including managing TPA and adjusters relationships. The position ensures the proper and efficient handling of claims, overseeing litigation, gathering data on claims for both record keeping and loss forecasting purposes, and estimating the financial value of claims.


 


Education, Knowledge, and Skills



  • Advanced industry designation (AIC, ARM, or other relevant claims designation) required.

  • A minimum of five years of experience administering general liability claims (litigated and non-litigated) within a risk management department, insurance brokerage firm, third-party adjusting firm, or insurance company is required.

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance or other related field.

  • Knowledge of general liability insurance policy language; familiarity with Directors & Officers coverage.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal skills, and the ability to effectively communicate on all matters related to claims.

  • Must be detail-oriented and well-organized.

  • Must possess strong problem solving skills, excellent follow through and the ability to work independently.



 


Specific Duties



  • Manage the activities of all litigated and non-litigated claims under captive insurance program that include reviewing claim documentation to determine coverage eligibility; coordinating claims-related activities through resolution of the claim (claim investigating, reporting, loss forecasting); working with TPA and insurers adjusters, in-house legal counsel, defense counsel and coverage counsel; and conducting analysis of loss runs to ensure appropriate reserve levels are assigned.

  • Conduct claim audits to validate reserving practices of TPA.

  • Perform claim reviews with TPA and insurance broker to develop claim closure strategies.

  • Direct the evaluation and establishment of reserves on indemnity and expenses for all claims.

  • Review costs associated with all claims handling and develop strategies to improve performance.

  • Identify injury and claim trends and suggest corrective actions.

  • Develop risk assessment program/protocol.

  • Represent captive insurance company at mediations, arbitrations, and other legal hearings, as necessary; domestic travel required.

  • Review monthly invoices for defense attorneys and third-party adjuster for accuracy and completeness.

  • Produce monthly loss reports for captive managers and broker.

  • Produce quarterly loss reports for captive Board of Directors.

  • Maintain the claims information system, including claim follow-up activities, in a confidential manner.

  • Assist in the development of insurance coverage requirements, coverage placements, coverage analysis and underwriting programs for the Program.

  • Assist with the production of claim-related presentation materials for applicable meetings.

  • Develop and update written policies, procedures, and processes relating to this position.

  • Undertake special projects relating to various insurance and claims issues, as assigned.
