Visiting Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies

Position:

The Interdisciplinary Studies Program at Towson University invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor with a 4/4 teaching load. The position is renewable annually for up to three years. The candidate will be required to teach lower-level undergraduate sections of American Studies and a writing/research intensive undergraduate seminar in the university’s core curriculum. Area of specialization is open but those candidates with interdisciplinary teaching experience and research backgrounds are preferred as are applicants with interests in global aspects of American Studies

 

Qualifications:

ABDs may apply, but a Ph.D. is required when the position commences in August 2020. A PhD in History, American Studies, Ethnic Studies, or a related field is preferred. Applicants must possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, demonstrate evidence of scholarly engagement, and participation in service to the program and the college.


Responsibilities:

Teach (2) lower-level undergraduate sections of American Studies and (2) writing/research intensive undergraduate seminars in the university’s core curriculum per semester.

The letter should contain the following: a discussion of your research and teaching including a description of a writing intensive undergraduate seminar that you would be prepared to teach.
