The College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a non-tenure track, 10-month Lecturer position in the Department of Family Studies and Community Development beginning August, 2020.



Master’s degree or higher in Family Studies or a related field.



Lecturers’ duties include teaching, advising, and service. Lecturers are expected to teach four courses each semester. These may include, but are not limited to, Introduction to Family Studies, Family Resources, and Ethics in Human Services. Undergraduate advising is part of regular teaching responsibilities. Faculty may teach on Towson’s main campus, and/or on our secondary campus, Towson University in Northern Maryland (TUNE) in Bel Air, MD.


The Department:

The Department of Family Studies and Community Development provides undergraduate learning opportunities through majors in family and human services and family science. Family and humans services majors, select from one of four tracks: services for children and youth, human services, nonprofit leadership, or introduction to child life. Each track has a distinct focus on community engagement, which serve to link the academic unit to the broader community. The department offers two graduate programs: Child Life, Administration, and Family Collaboration (M.S.) and Leadership in Jewish Education and Communal Services (M.A). It also offers two post baccalaureate certificates: Family-Professional Collaboration, Jewish Communal Services and Jewish Education.

The TUNE campus is located about 23 miles from main campus in Harford County.
