Position:

The College of Liberal Arts invites application for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the Department of Geography beginning August 2020.

 

Qualifications:

PhD or ABD in Geography, strong commitment to excellence in teaching, a strong potential for research and publication, commitment to keep abreast of developments in the field, and demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diversity of TU students, faculty, staff, and community.

 

Responsibilities:

We seek a scholar and teacher in geospatial technologies. We welcome applications from researchers working in any area of geographic information science. There are exciting opportunities for working in the thematic areas of urban analysis (Baltimore), coastal ecology (Chesapeake Bay), human-environment dynamics, geomorphology, natural hazards, emergency management, and weather and climate. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in GIS, remote sensing, GIS database design, and introductory human or physical geography as well as contribute to the growth of our GIS minor by developing new complementary courses and recruiting students. Standard teaching load at Towson is seven courses over the fall and spring semesters. We encourage applications from those whose teaching and scholarship advances an understanding of diversity in society.
