Position:

The College of Health Professions invites applications for a 10 month, full-time, tenure track assistant or associate professor position in the Department of Health Sciences beginning August 2020. This faculty position has both undergraduate and graduate teaching opportunities in the graduate Health Science Administration Track, undergraduate Health Care Management program and the fully online Allied Health Program. In addition to teaching, faculty responsibilities include a vibrant program of research, student advisement, university, professional and community service/outreach.

 

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must possess a research-focused doctoral degree in health care management or a closely related discipline. ABD applicants will be considered, but appointment will be at the instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2021.

  • Candidates must have the education and expertise to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: health care management, leadership, health care law and ethics, HR, and health care information and quality management. Preference will be given to candidates that can teach across a variety of areas within the field.

  • Evidence of scholarship agenda focused in an area of specialty in health care management that compliments the expertise of current faculty, the course offerings, and available resources. Candidates who can demonstrate scholarship outcomes with potential for external funding will be given preference.

  • Success working with diverse populations of students and experience in college teaching is highly desirable.

 

Responsibilities:

Faculty are assigned an instructional workload of six (6) course units (three credit hours each) per academic year. Primary responsibilities include: 1) TEACHING provide high quality instruction in a variety of health sciences and health care management courses, develop and refine courses and curricula, and advise and mentor students as they matriculate through the program and prepare to enter the workforce; 2) SCHOLARSHIP development of a focused area of scholarship that includes refereed publications, professional presentations, external funding, and involvement in scholarly projects with faculty and students; 3) SERVICE active service participation at the Department, College, University, professional and community levels.

 

Department of Health Science:

The graduate Health Science Administration Track, undergraduate Health Care Management program and the fully online Allied Health Program are housed in the Department of Health Sciences. The Department of Health Sciences offers 10degree/certificate programs in an interprofessional, team-oriented environment. The Department serves over 700 majors and offers a variety of health-focused general education courses to all University students.
