    Sodexo Universities segment is seeking a Chef Manager for our long tenured contract with Bethel College, located in Mishawaka Indiana. Bethel has a total campus enrollment of 1,500 students with 700 residential students. The schedule for this position offers a varied schedule during the academic year but lighter during the summer months!  Our Chef Manager will enjoys a "hands on" working approach to management. Sodexo is responsible for all food service on campus including catering and retail. This positions primary responsibility is assisting the Executive Chef in creating menus using Sodexo systems, HACCP, Safety Committee member, Sanitation and other duties as needed.

     

    Reporting to the General Manager, the Chef Manager is one of four salaried managers at the account. We have a professional team that is organized and proactive focusing on customer service, quality of product, HACCP, sanitation & safety and ultimately fiscal responsibility. The staff is skilled in their culinary abilities and proud of their day to day performance. This position includes standard management duties such as student staff scheduling, culinary planning meetings, resident dining promotions, cash handling, customer & client interaction, front of house interaction, record keeping, and food and physical safety management.

     

    The preferred candidate should have food production experience and can appreciate a diverse university culture. The work environment is pleasant; client relationship is professional and respectful. 

     

    The best qualified candidate will have the following:

    • College/University food production experience;
    • Experienced in training and leading a kitchen staff;
    • Culinary experience with ordering;
    • Experience with inventory controls;
    • Experience managing food and labor costs;
    • Experience with HACCP, and food & physical safety practices
