Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Career Coach who is ready to be challenged and build a career within an AmLaw Top 100 law firm. This position can potentially be located in any of our U.S. offices, but preferably one of our West Coast offices.

What responsibilities will you have? As a Career Coach with our Lawyer Development department, you will develop and implement individualized and programmatic career coaching support for attorneys at all levels. You will:
  • Provide confidential outreach and counseling to associate
  • Provide guidance on career options including Alternative Work Arrangements, and Career Track.
  • Counsel individual attorneys on career priorities and development opportunities
  • Work with individual attorneys to create and implement business and career plans
  • Provide coaching on asking for feedback as well as how to implement constructive feedback
  • Work closely with practice group partners to help associates with integration, development and advancement issues such as accessing and navigating firm resources, seeking out appropriate work experiences, maximizing resources, successfully handling interpersonal conflicts, and proactively addressing career advancement concerns with partners.
  • Design and deliver workshops for attorneys on topics such as sponsorship, mentoring, performance evaluations, development planning, alternative work arrangements, feedback etc.
  • Develop programs to integrate Orrick's alumni network into our lawyer development programs.
  • Assist with and enhance our internal resources available for career planning. Track and develop approaches to evaluate the career coaching program and develop measurements of success.
  • Assist with lawyer development projects as needed, including participating at academies and retreats.
  • Work with our external consultant on tracking exit interview data.

Job Requirements:
  • Advance degree in Career Coaching/Counseling, Organization Development or related field desired or equivalent work experience.
  • JD Preferred.
  • Successful 7+ years of experience designing and implementing career and professional development programs, preferably in a law firm or other professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with career coaching methodology and assessment protocols.
  • Experience working with senior executives and subject matter experts.
