Amgen is seeking a Business Performance Senior Manager - Corporate Functions, in our global headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA. The role will report to the Executive Director of Business Performance - Corporate Functions.

The Business Performance Senior Manager - Corporate Functions will lead components of functional change initiative(s), drive process excellence and improvement opportunities through the use of various tools, develop approaches to improve productivity and implement comprehensive change strategies to transform the organization and enable it to adapt to business challenges.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in continuous improvement, process engineering and transformation, possess strong analytical skills and process-oriented discipline. Engaging with senior leadership and influencing without authority is critical for this role.

Responsibilities of the Business Performance Senior Manager - Corporate Functions include:
  • Leads the development and execution of a continuous improvement operating system and a culture of process excellence within one or more client functions
  • Works with functional leaders and support functions to develop metrics, visual management and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Develops strong skills in application and facilitation of the transformation tools, scrum methodology and aspects of lean to solve business problems
  • Provides initiative support - works with teams to solve business problems and guide the team in methodology, drive innovative transformational thinking, ensure fair process, escalate issues, and ensure high quality deliverables in line with the identified solution


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years ofConsulting and/or Operations and/or Industrial Engineering, ideally including a background in process engineering and/or continuous improvement experience

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of Consulting and/or Operations and/or Industrial Engineering, ideally including a background in process engineering and/or continuous improvement experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Consulting and/or Operations and/or Industrial Engineering, ideally including a background in process engineering and/or continuous improvement experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Consulting and/or Operations and/or Industrial Engineering, ideally including a background in process engineering and/or continuous improvement experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Consulting and/or Operations and/or Industrial Engineering, ideally including a background in process engineering and/or continuous improvement experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Lean training
  • Agile Scrum Certification
  • Proven track record in productivity
  • 5+ years of experience in biotechnology/pharmaceutical
  • Experience at a top tier Management Consulting Firm
  • Strong presence with Senior Executives
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to storyboard and prepare executive-level discussion documents
  • Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage execution
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to influence different styles
  • Experience as a member of a high performing team
