BROADCAST ENGINEER

NEW JERSEY PUBLIC BROADCASTING

AUTHORITY

(Unclassified Position)

 

The New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority (NJPBA), is currently seeking applicants for a Broadcast Engineer position located in the Trenton, New Jersey office. Under the direction of Assistant Director of Engineering, will assist in providing 24/7 technical support for broadcast operations and help to maintain NJPBA’s relationships with other public/private entities, state, and federal agencies that share facilities with it. This position will respond to, and remediate disruptions in State-wide broadcasting services; assist in the maintenance of all broadcast tower documentation, facilities management logs, and FCC required logs; supervise and report on the activities of contractors performing services at NJPBA sites; assist in managing tower tenant agreements; provide internal support for broadcast-related IT services and infrastructure; and assist in project development, including project budgeting, design, procurement, installation of equipment, and training; performs other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

 

EDUCATION:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting, Electrical Engineering or other technically related field. (APPLICANT SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE A COPY OF DEGREE AND/OR TRANSCRIPTS (OFFICIAL/UNOFFICIAL) DOCUMENTING POSSESSION OF DEGREE AND/OR SPECIFIED CREDITS).

 

Candidates with college level training in informational technology and/or television technology is preferred. Also, a FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License or various SBE Certifications is most desirable.

 

NOTE FOR FOREIGN DEGREES: Degrees and/or transcripts issued by a college or university outside of the United States

must be evaluated for accreditation by a reputable evaluation service at your expense. The evaluation must be included with your submission. Failure to submit the required evaluation may result in an ineligibility determination.

 

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Maintenance Engineer for a broadcast television station and strong computer, networking and video encoding/decoding skills. The ability to operate and maintain Thales/Comark solid state, liquid cooled transmitters, seven (7), thirteen (13) GHz STLs and two (2) GHz ENG systems; the ability to maintain UDP/RTP and ASI transmission streams and ATSC encoding equipment; and a working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, and AutoCAD LT is required.

 

NOTE: This position requires the ability to work unpredictable hours, including nights, weekends and during declared emergency weather events; the ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50lbs; and the ability to work independently under deadlines and time constraints.

 

LICENSE: A valid Driver’s License and possession of an acceptable driving record is required since the operation of a motor vehicle is required in the performance of the essential duties of this position.
