Description **Job Description:**



This mid-level attorney role is responsible for:



• Conforming and non-conforming first lien conventional and government loans



• Specialty loans such as NY CEMA, IL Land Trust, cooperative housing and Inter Vivos Revocable Trust transactions



• Drafting and updating first lien closing documents to remain GSE- and state-compliant



• Reviewing bank policies, procedures and training materials



• Advising the bank on loan level concerns and customer complaint resolutions



• Advising the bank on proposed initiatives and participating in project meetings



• Preparing or reviewing summaries of newly enacted/amended state level statutes and regulations



• Managing multistate research projects



• Reviewing regulatory exam responses for attorney-client privilege and propriety restrictions



• Managing outside counsel, as needed, including budgeting and invoice approval



Enterprise Description:



Provides general legal counsel to Home Loans as well as specific advice on products, services and certain legal actions. Reviews legal contracts and documents. Directly, or through staff, conducts legal research. May represent the bank in legal actions. Individuals in this position typically have a minimum of five years of experience since admission to the Bar.



Required Skills:



• Working knowledge of federal regulations B (ECOA), X (RESPA) and Z (TILA)



• Must be admitted to at least one state bar



• 5-10 years of relevant experience



• Excellent communication skills



• Writing in plain language without legal-ease



• Strong computer literacy and legal research skills



Desired Skills:



• Expert knowledge of Texas homestead laws
