We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Assistant Director-Pre-Award Administration

This position is responsible for: 1) Providing leadership and guidance to faculty and staff in the development of high quality grant and contract proposals, including evaluating and modifying text and developing appropriate budgets; 2) Developing proposals for institutional initiatives that contain evidence-based practices/outcomes and strong evaluation plans; 3) Promoting sponsored project activites through informational presentations; 4) Performing grant opportunity searches for faculty and staff and maintaining grant search database; 5) Maintaining professional expertise in regulatory compliance regarding human subjects and serving on the university's Institutional Review Board; and 6) Coordinating the unit's responsibilities for electronic research administration.

In order to be effective this position, the Assistant Director of Pre-Award Administration will:

  • Participate fully and effectively in professional development activities
  • Participate effectively in university-wide activities and initiatives as assigned
  • Act professionally, performing their job in a way that reflects positively upon EWU and the Office of Grant & Research Development
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Strive to perform their job according to best practices in the field
  • Keep the Executive Director informed in a timely manner regarding status of program activities and identification of any areas of concern
  • Work effectively with faculty, staff and Grants Office colleagues

Eastern Washington University is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer, and applications from members of historically underrepresented groups are especially encouraged.</p> <br /><strong><br /></strong> <div> </div> <img src="https://analytics.click2apply.net/v/daXRjMUYbeDOsJzgi7M6j"> <br/><br/><strong>Required Qualifications</strong>: <ol> <li>Bachelor's degree</li> <li>Experience working with faculty to develop competitive proposals</li> <li>Demonstrated experience preparing and submitting grant proposals</li> <li>Experience developing complex budgets</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations and grant terms and conditions</li> <li>Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Demonstrated experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office products</li> <li>Passing of criminal background check (upon hire)</li> <li>Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.</li> </ol> <strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong>: <ol> <li>Master's degree</li> <li>Previous pre-award experience strongly preferred</li> <li>Certified Research Administrator (<span class="caps">CRA</span>) certificate</li> <li>Demonstrated experience and understanding of Human Subjects Participants and Instutional Review Boards</li> <li>Experience in regulatory compliance as related to grants and contracts</li> <li>Demonstrated understanding of electronic research administration</li> <li>Experience in contract execution</li> </ol> <strong>Other Skills and Abilities</strong>: <p>The Assistant Director must have demonstrated skills and abilities in a management capacity relevant to grants and contracts administration. The Assistant Director must possess the following attributes:</p> <ul> <li>Leadership ability and good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team, the ability to make complex decisions with a high level of initiative and judgment in a variety of situations.</li> <li>This individual must maintain a broad network of internal working relationships, and have up to date knowledge of university policies and procedures and federal, state, agency/sponsor regulations, laws, and guidelines.</li> <li>In addition, the individual must possess problem solving and time management skills and be able to maintain confidentiality.</li> </ul><p>PI114296381</p>
