Our Translational Immunobiology laboratory within the Translational Safety & Bioanalytical Sciences here at Amgen is seeking a talented Associate Scientist to drive the development and execution of custom in vitro immunological bioassays. In this role, you will work closely with research scientists within the group and collaborate with multi-functional groups to evaluate T cell mediated immune response in in vitro format.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Expertise with multiple immunological techniques, specifically PBMC isolation, cell culture and in vitro T cell assays.
  • Experience in theoretical immunology and a diverse set of laboratory skills to be able to experimentally address proposed hypotheses that explain biological problems.
  • Ability to execute human and pre-clinical species-based functional cellular immune cell assays to support the understanding of target biology, target expression, candidate safety liability, pharmacodynamic biomarker development, bioactivity or immune mechanistic issue resolution.


Basic Qualifications

Master's degree and 2 years of Scientific experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of scientific experience or Master's degree with 4+ years of scientific experience as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a biopharmaceutical setting.
  • Background in immunology, possessing the immunological techniques includingflow cytometry, ELISA, MSD and in vitro immune cell assays.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cellular functional endpoint measures, including proliferation, activation, target cell killing, and production of soluble factors.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cellular functional endpoint measures, including proliferation, activation, target cell killing, and production of soluble factors.
  • Ability to work independently in experimental planning, design, execution, optimization, data analysis, interpretation and communication.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and is highly motivated, creative and collaborative.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and work independently on experimental design, execution and data analysis.
  • Comfort in working with PBMC and whole blood from non-clinical species.
  • Comfort in working in a highly interactive and vibrant environment and a passion for teamwork.
  • Ability to synthesize and present results in PowerPoint format in both internal and external group meetings.
