Position Summary:

The Associate Director Medical Affairs will be responsible for leading and assisting Medical Affairs in the key medical activities related to scientific congresses, advisory boards, reviews of abstracts and manuscripts, scientific exchange and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) relationship development. Furthermore, the associate medical director will be asked to represent the medical team in some cross-functional forums.

This position will require a wide range of internal cross-functional and intra-functional collaboration which will not be limited to regulatory, clinical development, commercial, market access, and legal

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead for certain medical affairs projects that include advisory boards, congresses and other key meetings
  • Contribute to discussions in investigator initiated trial submissions
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Phase IV studies
  • Assist in the review of certain abstracts and manuscripts
  • Contribute to the development of strategy around medical education and gap assessment
  • Support the intra-functional teams such as Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), Medical Communications and Medical Information
  • Present at selected external medical meetings and internal functional meetings
  • Establish appropriate strategic partnerships with centers of excellence, advocacy groups and KOLs in areas of scientific interest.
  • Participate in, support, and develop key global clinical and medical affairs strategies in conjunction with commercial counterparts. Provide ongoing and interactive technical and medical expertise to execute on these strategies.
  • Participate in review of promotional and medical materials to ensure content is medically appropriate and compliant with internal and external requirements.
  • Review Standard Operating Procedures and Clinical Study Reports as needed

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Medical Doctor (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
  • Work experience in the area of neurology or psychiatry is preferred
  • Minimum of five to eight (5-8) years experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Exercises judgment within well-defined practices and policies.
  • Typically does not supervise employees but must be able to influence in a matrixed environment. Works with some supervision and guidance.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills
  • Ability to travel 50%

Scope:

Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in create and effective ways, exercising judgement in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires and in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment and independently from remote locations. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
