Position Purpose

The Associate Director of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) engages in direct service with students, staff, and academic partners to support students with disabilities in receiving reasonable adjustments and program modifications that achieve equitable access to the College's programs, services, and activities. In the process, the Associate Director supports students' intellectual and personal development, consistent with the mission of the College and the College's commitment to diversity and inclusion. The Associate Director also provides management support to the Assistant Dean & Director of SAS. This support includes supervising professional staff performing the duties noted above as well as supervising the Testing Center Coordinator. More broadly, the Associate Director is responsible for promoting and providing leadership for the College's full inclusion of students with disabilities, serving as a consultant to campus partners to raise awareness around stigma and unconscious bias toward individuals with disabilities, and supporting innovative inclusion practices across the academic setting such as universal design for learning.

Key Accountabilities

• Consults directly with students and faculty via the interactive process, incorporating careful review of disability documentation and relevant legal guidance, to determine reasonable academic adjustments, auxiliary services, and other aids that do not fundamentally alter programs of study. - 45%
• Supervises professional staff who serve in direct-service roles such as determination of reasonable accommodations and administering accommodated tests. - 20%
• Serves as a leader, consultant, committee member, and/or advisor for a number of College constituencies such as the College Health Service (including the Counseling Center), the Office of Residential Life, Dartmouth Center for Advancing Learning, Learning Design & Technology, Classroom Technologies, Libraries, and student groups and recognized organizations. - 10%
• Maintains detailed records regarding interactions with students, faculty, and other relevant parties. - 10%
• Develops and delivers on-campus educational programming and participates in divisional projects that enhance the College environment for individuals with disabilities. - 10%
• Participates in and assists the Assistant Dean & Director with program assessment, long-term planning, development, and reporting. - 5%
