About the position:

The Associate Director, Digital Transformation is a new role helping develop and deliver a core service line within JFFLabs Social Impact Acceleration practice. Youll help build and execute a high-quality, high-impact client service model that brings together growth-stage technology start-ups, Fortune 500 companies, higher education institutions, workforce boards, and others to show how technology can truly transform how we live and work. Your work will have the potential for lasting impact on these institutions and the workers and learners they support by ensuring that new technologies are implemented effectively and sustainably, that our clients business and social impact goals are met, and that we can continue to learn and improve to deliver world-class digital transformation services and technologies to the people and organizations who could benefit the most.

Youll play an important role in this environment as we build something from the ground level, helping to shape our teams culture and work in direct and indirect ways. This position requires a dynamic, agile team member who is comfortable experimenting and iterating work with high standards for excellence across a wide variety of responsibilities, constantly looking out for opportunities to improve, and moving forward projects as both the Associate Director and an individual contributor. You will report to the Deputy Director, Acceleration.

What youll do:

  • Program Excellence
    • Serve as the main point of contact for clients and technology vendors for the deployment stage of some digital transformation projects, working closely with Accelerations growing team to ensure that selected technology solutions are effectively implemented in pursuit of our clients business and social impact objectives. In this capacity, you will be directly responsible for project success and client satisfaction, empowered to be creative, thoughtful, and solutions-oriented to ensure our pilots have the impact we and our clients seek
    • Build strong relationships with clients and vendors alike; understand their needs, challenges, business models, and current approaches to technology to inform pilot design and management
    • Work closely with other staff on Accelerations growing team to clarify and articulate needed points of coordination between team members working to design and configure technology solutions and the Digital Transformation team and process, setting deployment projects up for success and ensuring an excellent client and vendor experience throughout
    • Partner with clients and vendors to develop and execute on a communications and engagement strategy for clients, vendors, and end users to drive awareness, understanding, and adoption, including demos, regular check-ins, email and other communications channels, etc.; develop and deliver client presentations and reports
  • Program Strategy
    • Collaborate with the Managing Director and Deputy Director, Acceleration to set a vision and overall direction for our Digital Transformation service line
    • Understand, adapt, recommend, and adopt best practices in client, vendor, and end user management and engagement for Digital Transformation projects in the context of mission-driven organizations
    • Articulate, codify, and continuously assess/improve the Digital Transformation model, including developing processes, procedures, standards, measures of impact, and a toolkit to guide the management and execution of Digital Transformation client engagements
    • Help the growing Digital Transformation and Acceleration team develop and refine our strategy to deliver impact at scale, contributing to team strategic planning, operations, impact measurement/data reporting, and cross-team collaboration across Acceleration, JFFLabs, and JFF
    • Over time as the practice grows, effectively lead and motivate a team of 1-3 direct reports including client services and helpdesk/tech support staff, who will lead and contribute to projects and client engagements under your supervision; provide direct coaching, feedback, thought partnership, and performance management to support them in their success in their roles and at JFF
  • Team Operations
    • Contribute insights, thought leadership, research, and analysis to support ongoing practice learning within Acceleration, JFFLabs, and JFF, including public-facing and/or internal market scans, white papers, case studies, reports, presentations, etc.
    • Contribute to proposals and ongoing business development efforts
    • Stay engaged and informed with the work of the broader Acceleration team, helping us identify opportunities, improve our efficiency and effectiveness, and learn as we grow
    • Other duties as necessary and/or assigned

Who you are:

  • You have a passion for helping workers advance and for leveling the playing field to create economic opportunity for all. You have worked on or a strong interest in issues of economic advancement, education reform, and/or workforce development
  • You have 6+ years of relevant experience in client success or customer service focused on supporting the adoption of new technologies or the success of Digital Transformation projects, including experience in a leadership role in such projects, ideally with a mix of non-profit, private, and public sector stakeholders
  • You demonstrate the ability to set and manage others to a high standard of excellence in client engagements, including curiosity and empathy for client business and impact challenges; thoughtful, proactive, adaptive, and highly responsive communications and information-sharing; high-quality deliverables; close attention to detail; and an above and beyond orientation to client services
  • You demonstrate the ability to identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement, develop new or optimize current operating models for how work is delivered, and build stakeholder buy-in for your recommendations
  • You are able to communicate technology concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, and can quickly speak the language of different companies and/or large foundations
  • You model inclusive leadership, working effectively with diverse staff, and stewarding an organizational culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion, and an ability to apply JFFs core values to all areas of your work
  • You are excellent at working both in teams and independently. You are able to supervise others and use your informal authority to get things done well in a matrixed work environment
  • You have experience managing direct reports and/or small teams, providing direct feedback, thought partnership, and performance management to support their success
  • You have excellent communication skills both written and spoken. You have the ability to persuasively and efficiently plan and facilitate meetings, and build and deliver presentations for stakeholders across sectors
