Position Purpose

The Associate Dean oversees, develops, directs, manages and assesses all aspects of Student Affairs community programs, including the Center for Social Impact, the Office of Community Standards and Accountability, the Native American Program, the Office of Pluralism and Leadership, and the William Jewett Tucker Center,. The Associate Dean fosters close collaborations with students, faculty, staff and community partners to promote the College's 40-year old Principle of Community, understanding and respect across difference, leadership development, student accountability and social impact experiential learning. The Associate Dean serves as a member of the Dean of the College's divisional management team.

Functional Oversight

  • Develops, implements, and continuously evaluates Student Affairs community support programs and student leadership development initiatives aligned with Dean of the College priorities. (30%)
  • Develops reviews and manages community programs operating budgets in consultation with the Dean, the Director of Fiscal and Human Resources, and departmental leadership.
  • Oversees recruitment, hiring, training, management and evaluation of community support services staff.
  • Partners with the Dean of the College, divisional management team colleagues, faculty and other key campus partners to advance student success and promote inclusive excellence in the undergraduate experience. (20%)
  • Collaborates with student affairs colleagues and campus partners in case management, student and community crisis response, and student accountability. May serve in Committee on Standards chair rotation. (20%)
  • Serves in divisional senior staff in charge on-call rotation, responding to significant campus or student crisis issues after hours. (10%)
  • Develops divisional professional development programming and diversity plans. (15%)
  • As a member of the divisional senior management team, advises the dean, engages in programmatic and divisional strategic planning initiatives and coordinates and executes complex projects in support of divisional priorities as assigned. Leads and/or serves on departmental, divisional and institutional working groups and committees as assigned. (5%)
